The water pump is on the top right hand side of the engine if you standing on the passenger side looking at the front of the engine. Keep in mind that the water pump only goes back on one way, so make sure that you have it clocked right or the bolts wont line back up. Remove the water pump pully first before you take the belt off. This makes it easier to break the pully bolts loose and then remove the water pump bolts. Then after, put the pully back on and then the belt and then tighten the pully bolts, the belt will help hod the pully for you.
the serpentine belt drive system has a tensioner pulley losing the bolt wont help you have to put to belt on as it shows on the diagram on the fan shroud while rotating the tensioner to loosen position hold pressure on it put the belt over all the pullies then on the tensioner once the belt is around all the pulley and the tensioner rotate the tensioner to tighten the belt...hope this helps
Loosen the altenater and use a prying bar to tighten the belt by pushing the altnater so as to tighten the belt. while holding altenater in place tighten bolts back tight. Belt should be tight when finished.
on these newer cars with one belt they have spring loaded tensioner. looks like idler pully but pivots to tighten belt they are good for spring inside going bad. usually held in with on bolt next to pully.
WORKING FROM THE FRONT; YOU NEED A SIZE 17 SOCKET ON A TBAR.THE
ALTERNATER IS ON DRIVER SIDE AT THE BACK.THERE ARE THREE BOLTS TO
LOOSEN (DONT TAKE THEM RIGHT OFF) . PULL THE ALTERNATER TOWARDS THE
FRONT OF THE CAR, SLIP BELT OVER CRANK PULLEY THEN OVER ALTERNATER
PULLEY .LEVER ALTERNATER BACK TO TIGHTEN BELT,THEN RETIGHTEN 3 BOLTS
Check your belt tensioner to be sure the new belt is being held firmly on the pully. Make sure the pully on the alt is the correct diameter as the wrong size will effect the rate of charge.....Also make sure all your ground connections are clean and tight as this too can effect your electrical system.
first you need to figure out if you have an automatic tensioner or an adjustable one. so look at the pullies which ones are not accesories (ie not an alternator pully, power steering.) some pullies will just be on there own not driving anything. is this pully connected to something like this O>o <--this end is the pully.
pully mounting bolt ^ ^arm with hole for rachet
or does it look like the pully is attached to a threaded pole.
the auto adjuster need a rachet to pull back on it (because it's spring loaded) while you install the new belt.
the other need the nut on the pully loosened and the threaded pole loosened will move the pully removing tension from the belt (opposite will tension the new belt).
this is the best guide/instructions I could find on the net and I do allot of this.
take the timing cover off the belt there should be a gear below the camshaft pully its a tensioner use a peice of chalk and mark the very top of the cam pully and the very bottom of the crank pully do your best not to turn them loosen the tensioner pully the belt will loosen up take it off put the new one on if you turned the pully put it back slowly tighten the belt when its tight if the pully turned when tightening pull the slack out by hand then tighten it both chalk marks should be lined up if they are start the car
always unplug the battery first and dont rotate the pullys more than a few inches if nessacery when the belt is off you could cause damage to the valves
