Grab a test light go down to the starter, hook to a good ground and probe the battery cable. If that has power probe the solenoid engage wire( its the little one) have a helper turn the key to start if that gets power replace the starter.

If your collant level is ok, check your coolant level sensor. Its located on the coolant reservoir, usually at the bottom!! If faulty it will illuminate the low coolant indicator.

Have you checked your starter. Just had this same thing happen with a 93 Chevrolet Pickup where the solienoid connection had gone bad. (wiggled) He and his friends were replacing batteries, pulled the positive lead on the starter and it got enough connection to start. Replaced it the next day doing fine.

SOURCE: My car doesn't start. When

It sounds like the battery is bad, beacuse it wont even start with a jump. If possible take the battery off and take it to your local autoparts or even walmart car service, they will test the voltage on battery for free, from the description you are giving about the clicking sound pretty sure the battery is gone. good Luck.

SOURCE: 2007 chevy cobalt ls won't

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

2008 Chevy Malibu LS has crank but won't start

Did it run okay after the starter was changed? There are lots of ideas in the link, but really, you need a mobile auto-electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Communication issues between modules.

Possible solution - This happened to me and my battery was dead in my key fob and also I needed an ignition switch because a piece on it was broken which therefore wouldn't turn to start the engine.

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

I have a problem with a 2008 Dodge Charger, my battery went bad and I had to jump it off to take it and get a new battery put in but now my new battery won't start my car not even when the new battery...

When you jump started the vehicle, it started as normal and you drove to a shop to have a new battery installed.?? Correct??

1. Who removed the old battery and installed the new one?

2. Did the car start normally immediately after the new battery was fitted? How frequently were you able to drive the car on the new battery before the problem you described appeared?

3. Has anything been done to the vehicle since the new battery was fitted.?

The car was running fine one day then the next day it would not start. We tried jumping it thinking the battery might be dead and it still would niot start. The car has power until we take the jumper...

Sounds like you have a toasted battery or alternator. Have you performed a load test on the battery? Have you tried to charge the battery? First remove the battery and charge it externally from the vehicle. If the battery won't hold a charge, or won't hold a charge of 12 volts, replace it. Once you have the vehicle started, test the operation of the alternator. It should be putting out at least 13 volts back to the battery to keep it charged - if it is putting less than 13 volts or more than 16 volts, replace the alternator.

My truck won't start. It won't turn over... only clicking noise.. even with a jump. the headlights work but very dimly.. orange lights next to headlights flash on and off dimly consistently as well...

When a battery is very low, even a jump won't work because the battery takes too much out of the jump. Take the battery out and have it charged up.
If it won't take a charge, get a new one.
But also make sure the battery terminals and cable ends are shiny and greased.

If you really want to be sure, put a voltmeter on it.
A good battery should be 12.5.
When you crank it should go down to about 10.
If it goes below 9, either the battery is too low, or the starter is draining too much.
If it never goes below 11, it is not draining enough, and the solenoid is probably bad.
If when you stop cranking, it comes back up to over 11, then the battery is good, so the starter is probably bad.

Wow, that is not good. The only things I know is trying to get that latch open. Is the cable broke to the latch? Matbe, you can get to the cable. That is all I know to do. Sorry. Just trying to help.
