1991 mercury capri

I am looking 4 a service manual 4 my '1991 mercury capri. something is draining my battery... we've checked my fuel injecters 2 get started & thats the only way car will start but it'll die when gas runs out of injector... the relay swith n trunk is down..we already know the head gaskets, & spark plugs need 2 be changed.. the man working on car is almost done w/ it bcause its frustrating him. the alternator, starter is brand new

1999 Yukon Start Issue - I have replaced the octopuse, battery, fuel filter, fuel pump, still having problems starting in cold weather, sometimes after a heavy rain.

Any suggestions?

The ECM (Engine Control Module) could have been damaged when the battery was connected backwards. I agree with what lymand855 said as well but your problems could be worse if the ECM is damaged.

are you geting a spark from the plugs.if not leave the fuel system alone.And concentrate on the coil and the crank sensor.

If it runs better at times, then it sounds like a sensor. The ECT could be bad, it can cause idling and power issues.If the check engine light is flashing, then that can also be researched...blueamber...I've owned 6 of these capris so far

I have a 1991 mercury capri. Tonight when i was driving home the tail lights and dash lights quit working and the headlights were very very dim. Is this a broken fuse problem or something else?

Check your alt.. alt voltage output should be at least 13.2, sounds like it's not charging and your possibly running off the battery, as for the dash and tail lights, there both on the same system, check the fuse.

Need steps to start taking transmission out to

drain fluid, disconnect battery neg., remove shifter assem from top, remove driveshaft, support trans and remove crossmember, remove trans housing bolts, remove starter, remove trans. This is basic removal. Be very carefull to suport properly!

Underhood fuse block swap out relay #7 thats the ECM relay.
Ground Circuits Using a DVOM, touch negative voltmeter lead to a good ground. Touch positive voltmeter lead to each ground terminal. With vehicle running, voltmeter should indicate less than one volt. If reading is greater than one volt, check for open, corrosion and loose connection on ground lead. See ECM GROUND LOCATION table for ECM ground location.
