Car overheating, Cadillac Deville

I have 02 Deville, before i bought it the last owner took it to flush the radiator, it ran fine when i test drove it, car sat in my garage for about a week started to drive it and the radiator hose blew up, i replaced it, after that its been over heating so i replaced the thermostat filled it with dex-cool i could not find the drain valve so and radiator doesnt have a cap, so to try and fill it all the way i unhooked the hose close to the top and filled it, now the car is fine if is idleing but temperature starts rising past normal if i drive it and goes down if i let it idle for a minute or so, also noticed that there is a short hose that looks like its just to release preassure at the resivour tank and once it reaches normal temperature it starts leaking antifreeze from there, is it possible that when the previous owned had the flush done they filled it up with the wrong coolant and thats why it overheats???? also everytime i fill up the coolant, i see something that looks like hair or fuzz at the bottom of the resivour cap.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, EXCEPT THAT ONE OF MY BELTS ALSO BROKE. RUST IS COMING FROM THE WATER PUMP. IF CAR IDLES ALL IS OK, NO RADIATOR CAP WHEN I FEEL WITH DEX COOL IT LAST A LITTLE LONGER, MEAN ER IT DOES NOT OVERHEAT. THE SALESMAN STATED EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT FINE. NOW CHANGE OIL LIGHT COMES ON CHECK STABILITY SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON AND RT FRONT TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. I BOUGHT IT 11/22/2008. I LET IT SIT FOR A WEEK, I DROVE IT TO TOWN 16 MILES AND BACK ON ABOUT THE 12 MILE IT OVERHEATED I HAD TO PULL OVER. I DROVE IT TO TEST IT GOOD. I HAVE NP WARRANTY SO BASICALLY I'M STUCK. MY FIRST PAYMENT IS DUE AND IT IS X-MAS BOY I TELL YOU I AM PRETTY P. O'D. I STILL HAVE TO PAY THE OTHER $1000 DOWN FOR THE PAYMENT. THE GENERAL MANAGER CALLED ME I WANTED TO GIVE HIM A PIECE OF MY MIND. THE SALES MAN SENT ME A X-MAS CARD. I WOULD LIKE TO #%*+ SOMEBODY UP NOW. THE GOOD THING IS I DID NOT TRADE MY OTHER CAR IN. I LOANED TO SOMEONE WHO NOW DOES NOT WANT TO RETURN IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE PLANS. I MADE A DEAL WITH THEM SO I STUCK. PFLUEGAR CAR SALES.

Just bought a 2000 Cadillac deville an I drove it 5 min. and it started over heating...the previous owner put a new radiator and thermostat in and said the heads was not blown..

he could be right about the heads but he may have put the thermostat in wrong and instead of opening it is blocking the coolant flow causing the overheating
The time span quoted is about right for a thermostat to start opening

Well i am being taken to court over a car that came into the shop with a coolant leak on a 4.6L norhtstar and the tech found a leaking water pump housing cover. he resealed the cover and re psi checked...

its could be a misdiagnosis, but the customer drove the car till it overheated and caused the head gaskets to go bad, head gaskets don't just "blow" for no reason, overheating is the number one cause. Did you do a Block Check? if not, why not. I know you found a coolant leak the first time, but it should have been block checked when customer returned with a overheating problem. You being experienced with Cadillac should know all there is to know about that POS Northstar engine. You said you replaced the radiator, on suspicion, a bad radiator should be diagnosed with a IR temp gun. Never replace parts on a whim. I feel bad for you, but the judge may not.

I just purchased a 1999 Cadillac Deville. Drove fine for a few days. Today I drove 75 MPH for 20 miles on freeway and car began to overheat. Dashboard told me to replace oil. Checked the coolant, it took 1...

When a Cadillac (Northstar) overheats, It will give the message to change the oil. If you run a Northstar and keep running it long enough it will start shutting off cylinders and stop the A/C compressor to help protect itself. In this condition I would check for a blown headgasket. Possibly your technican will find the problem. Could also be stuck thermostat, dirty radiator Thanks

Have an 02 Cadillac Deville with 32k miles on it. Had a Cadillac dealer flush coolant and replace, and now every time I start the car the DIC reads "Check Coolant Level". Coolant level is fine. Now the...

Why replace the radiator it's just a bad sensor. Get the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle look up the water level sensor testing and replacement steps. The sensor probably cost around $30 and I doubt if it takes more than 30 minutes to replace.

Hi i just bought a 94 cadillac deville and put it the road yesterday i drove it last night it seemed to fine this morning it would not start i took thew starter out and bench tested it that was fine all...

had it been sitting for a while before you got it? could be bad gas, could be moisture on the plugs, could be a fuel pump. turn it over a bit then check a plug and see if there is gas to it if there is then check to see if there is a spark. If no spark check coil.

Overheating

open hood pull out oil dip stick, if oil looks like coffee with cream it is possible that the head gasket is bad. if the oil looks a normal color the cooling fans could not be working .have a radiator pressure test done to determine where coolant leak is.
