Disconnected and reconnected battery/messed up transmission display

I disconnected and reconnected the battery postive cable and this resulted in messing up the travsmission gear display. When the gear selector is in "park" or "netruel" all gear selections are circled. When the selector is in "2" or "low" there is no gear selection displayed. When the selector is in "D" or"R" the respective selection will be circled, which is the correct display. I have tried to solve the problem by disconnect/connect battery to no avail. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Check the input shaft and output shaft speed sensors on the transmission. One is likely bad.

All I do is disconnect the negative from the battery to clean it and I put it right back on in my truck is in limp mode and I don't know how to get it off

Disconnecting the battery can sometimes cause the vehicle's computer to reset, which can result in it entering "limp mode" to protect the engine and transmission. This mode is designed to limit the vehicle's speed and power to prevent further damage until the underlying issue is resolved.
To get your truck out of limp mode, you may need to reset the vehicle's computer by following these steps:
  1. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the battery terminals (both the positive and negative cables).
  3. Touch the positive and negative cables together (away from the battery) to discharge any remaining energy in the system.
  4. Wait for at least 15 minutes before reconnecting the battery terminals (first the positive and then the negative).
  5. Start the engine and see if the limp mode has been resolved.

On a 2008 Audi TT it won't start (engine won't turn over) and on the display it's reading Safe...

Was this message out of the blue or did you repair or remove something? This procedure may help.
1. Disconnect battery for 1-2 hour. (Some people have stated for faster results. To remove both cables and connect battery leads (short them) with a jumper wire - removes any residual current. Wait 5-10 minutes). I don't like shorting cables together, personal preference.
Reconnect battery, place key in ignition & initiate reprogramming sequence.
3. Sequence = turn key to "ON" position only, wait 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.

I have a 1984 toyota not charging battery, i put on a new Alternator ,i took postive cable off battery it dies.

A Toyota will not run with the battery disconnected, it doesn't mean an alternator problem only a voltage and load test can determine that, it is unique to S\some Japanese cars and light trucks.

Unhook postive cable lights flashing will not

Sometimes the alarm gets tripped when the battery has been disconnected as the system thinks someone is trying to steal the vehicle when it loses power. Usually if you reconnect the battery [and the alarm sounds] then lock and unlock the drivers door with the key or the remote on the key fob it will reset the alarm and everything will work again. I've had to try a couple of times to get these systems to reset so you may have to do the same. There may also be a procedure listed in your owners manual for this situation so I'd take a look there too. Good luck, hope this helps out!

I have had similiar issues on my 2002 Ford Escape.
Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 15 minutes (don't mess with airbarg cables while battery is connected), then check the plug and cables underneath the driver's seat. If you can't see the problem, disconnect the cable (should be yellow) and reconnect.

Battery replaced and now transmission problem

It shouldn't be,however.....when replacing batteries,or simply disconnecting and reconnecting to clear a code for example, always hook up the positive terminal first and the negative terminal last, and, with the ignition OFF.Infrequently,if a battery is hooked up with the key in the ON position,it can damage the vehicles computer....(PCM,TCM,BCM,etc etc)And the reason for hooking up the negative terminal LAST is to avoid arky sparky's off of your wrench which can also damage the vehicle's computer (s).Try disconnecting both negative terminals of both batteries and let sit for minimum 20 minutes, then reconnect, and see what you have.
