When the air bag light flashes it is actually doing what is called a "flash code" which can be read by your dealer. The P1000 code is only a standard check code in the Engine control module,The DTC (diagnostic trouble code) will be in the restraints system and the flash codes need to read too...It will flash when igntion is on...will flash then stop a second then flash again giving a 2 digit flash code, then diagnosing can begin

I replaced the injector pump on my 20.l diesel Jaguar X-Type and it's refusing to start. The the glow light continuously flashes and the car refuses to start. Please help.

20 litre engine, wow that's big!

You have two pumps, the fuel pump that pulls fuel from the tank and the injector pump. You have to bleed all the air from the system.

Did you disconnect the battery at all?

Pulled fuse out by mistake for air bag on drivers side dash panel than put back in but now air bag warning light on dash comes on on dash a few seconds after car is started and stays on how do I reset this...

Un hook battery and let sit for 30 minutes with no power. This should let the capacitors bleed down and reset the code. It probably has a lost power code that is being retained memory.

How to I disable the airbag on my 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac so I can change out the cruise control buttons?

Remove RCM fuse from dash panel fuse box. Fuse F2.10 10 amps. Turn key onfor 30 seconds and see that Air Bag light is lit. Now disconnect battery negative cable for 1 minute, leave disconnected while service is done. now the air bag is disabled. To repower the system turn key on, insert fuse. connect battery, now turn key off for 10 seconds, then turn key on and watch the air bag light. it should go on then after the air bag module is happy that everything is ok, it will turn off.

I have a 2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0.. The air bag icon warning light keeps coming on or flashes. Sometimes it comes on a stays on. Other times it goes off when I restart the engine and sometimes it stays on...

I had this. The issue was resolved by the Jaguar Main Dealer by recalibrating the passenger seat weight sensor. The system is designed so that the passenger air-bag is disabled within a certain weight band detected on the seat (to protect babies in carry-chairs).

Hope this helps.

I have a X Type 2.0 Diesel

you can try to see if any earth/ ground lead is missing from the suspension, and the rear of the wheels where the sensors are are clean which may affect the sensors, abs will work only when braking, #' its traction control whem accelerating, same mech, sounds as if someone has deactivated it,!!!!!!!!!! does the lights for ABS and TRAC appear when you first start the car , before you crank it over , if not then some thing is very odd, as these lights should always appear before you crank the engine, and if a fault they should stay on, or apppear when they start working

Flashing airbag light on 97 maxima. Car was in an accident, airbags deployed, replaced bags and controller why won't the light stay off

To manually check air bag codes, turn the key On and push the driver's door switch (at the bottom of the B-pillar) 5 times or more within 7 seconds of turning the key ON. Then watch the air bag light flashing codes. The air bag light will come ON for 3 seconds and then give fast flashes if there is a code. Count the fast flashes as the code. So the air bag light on for 3 seconds and then 8 flashes is a code 8 for the passenger air bag circuit. after counting code clear codes and see if they come back

5 series' of 5 beeps in a row on start up

Check the Air Bag Indicator Light. When you turn the car on it should stay on for 6 seconds and then turn itself off. If a fault is detected in the system operation check, the indicator light will either fail to light, stay on continuously or flash. The flashing may not start until up to 30 seconds after the initial systems check.

If there is a fault in the system AND the air bag indicator light fails to light then an audible tone will alert you- it will be a set of 5 chimes (bells/beeps) five times in a row.

Have the Air Bag serviced and the indicator light bulb changed. Since the dash will be off in order to change the bulb, I would have all of the other dash lights changed at the same time. If one goes out, others will surely follow.

Good luck!

1999 f150 airbag light stays on after blinking upon start up!

Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Switch
The passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) switch:
  • is located on the instrument panel to the right of the climate controls.
  • contains a light emitting diode (LED) that indicates when the PAD switch is activated (passenger air bag disabled).
  • allows the passenger air bag deployment circuit to be disabled using the ignition key.
  • should be used whenever a child safety seat is being used in the front passenger seating position.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prove Out the System
Prove out the system means to turn the ignition switch from the OFF to the RUN position and visually monitor the air bag indicator with the air bag modules installed. The air bag indicator will light continuously for approximately six seconds and then turn off. If an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault is present, the air bag indicator will either:
  • fail to light.
  • remain lit continuously.
  • flash.
The flashing might not occur until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned from the OFF to the RUN position. This is the time required for the restraints control module (RCM) to complete the testing of the SRS. If the air bag indicator is inoperative and an SRS fault exists, a chime will sound in a pattern of five sets of five tone bursts. If this occurs, the air bag indicator will need to be repaired before diagnosis can continue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Active Commands
This command allows the technician to verify operation of the air bag indicator, passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) lamp and chime. When the air bag output command is executed, the indicator, the PAD lamp, chime and the chime are activated simultaneously for approximately four seconds. All devices are deactivated automatically.
