With the keys out of the ignition, my car will beep constantly when the driver door is open as if it is reminding me to turn off the lights or to not lock my keys inside. Even when they key is not in the ignition and the doors are shut, the car's running lights (not headlights or high beams) will remain on, thereby draining my battery. I've had to replace my cars ignition within the past year to fix a similar problem and don't want to have to do so again. Does anyone have a solution?

Look at the base of the steering colum on its topside and locate the ignition switch. Thhere are no electrics at the key. The actual switch is operated by a rod by the keypart. The switch is sticking or the linkage to it is out of whackGood Luck.

How about a new lock cylinder for the ignition switch?

look around the car on each door, you will see a small black switch on which the door shuts on. This switch when open brings on the light and bell. Go around and check by pushing each one of these in. This should stop the light/chime. It works on what is called an open circuit, if you check each of the sensors and the problem persists, then one of the sensors may be faulty or their is a broken wire somewhere in the circuit. For the mean time to stop your battery going flat, remove the interior light globe.

Hi David, the peeping is because the lights are on....If your parking in dark place and you have the auto lights selected just turn them off....The auto lights are for when you take a long trip and want the lights to come on in at a given time or in given conditions, example; driving into a tunnel....They work with a light sensitive diode and will trigger the light when the light level falls below a set candle power....
Select the off position and I believe your problem will be over.
