2 or 3 minutes after starting the car and driving the engine stops soon after the stop sign while trying to accelerate. I pulled to the side of the road and was never able to start the car again. Three lights came on: oil, check engine and battery. The oil has not been replaced for 5000 miles. Could it be just a faulty oil pressure sending unit?

What type of noise does it make. check if it has "blowby" . Blowby is when there is air coming through to the fuel system. It means that the rings , bearings , and other critical components are bad.The engine needs a complete overhaul or a new engine block. Maybe even the heads. if's it's a ticking, clicking kind of noise it is the valve lifters or rocker arm problem.such as the valves.

changing the oil may fix the problem at least check the level is correct.

Yes, the oil pump is accessible when the oil pan is removed and at those miles it would be a good preventive maintenance idea to replace the oil pump.
Secondly, you should shop around for a better price. $332.00 seems a little high.
With an oil pump replacement, the pan gasket and the oil change should be included in the price, seeing as how those items are removed anyway.
As with any auto repair, its buyer beware. the crooks count on the fact that you don't know what is involved with the repair, or else you would have done it yourself.
Good luck

ur oil pump may be failin-there r sensors everywhere on new cars-keepin u from starting as safety measure-computer systems r complex n things dont always show on 1 scan-they kinda hav the mindset of a pc
Testimonial: "Thank you. I have spoken with 2 other mechanics who said the same thing regarding the oil pump. It's being looked at. So I'll post more once I know"
