Starter motor on the 2004 accord turns slowly and the battery is new.

Sometimes starts fine, sometime the starter will not turn over the car enough to crank it. If you wait 30 seconds then it will turn just enough to crank and its been doing this for a month and is getting worse. the connections are good and tight with no corrosion and it is a four cylinder with only 14000 miles on it.

Bushes in the motor are warn if it rotates slowly. or slows down then cool off period and its fine. you can replace them but its usually more easier just to change the starter motor, when replacing the motor ask when you get new one if they pay for return of old motor as some places will either give you monies off or money when you bring in old one.

SOURCE: where is the starter relay on a 94 Honda Accord

Yes, it sounds like your solenoid is bad and staying engaged against the flywheel, you could do an amperage draw and a voltage drop test to find out for sure, but you will need an DVOM and a amp clamp. Or you could take it into an auto parts store and they will test it for free. Hope this helps.

Could be the ignition coil or ignition module. Also check the ignition fuse.

SOURCE: replace starter in 2004 honda accord

Try 'jiggling' the key while you hold it in the start position' this could be a failed ignition switch.
It could also be that the + terminal on the starter or starter solenoid may be corroded. Since the battery was just replaced, those terminals are probably clean enough but check the negative cable where it attaches to the chassis or block. If the connection is flaky here, enough current can often pass to allow lower current devices to operate but drop too much voltage if the starter is trying to operate. Starters require 100-200 amperes, many times higher than anything else in our vehicles and show up cruddy connections pretty quick.

Check the starter motor. Many times they go on there own with no sign, and having someone crank it while using something to tap it often helps it turn over.

Starter motor on the 2004 accord turns slowly and the battery is new.

See if you have any corrosion inside of the insulation of the cable itself. It might be creating a high resistance between the starter and battery.

Sometimes the starter motor bushes can be worn out and so will work with a high level of friction which will not power the engine to turn over. Also if the brushes or the commutator in the motor is bad it will be hard to turn.
The starter solenoid also is a suspect as if this is worn out it will be delivering lower current to the motor which will not be sufficient to turn the engine .
So please remove the starter motor and overhaul.. check the starter pinion and flywheel.

2005 Honda Accord will not start, just clicks when turn the key. Tried tapping the starter and rocking the car.

Sometimes if your battery is low there is just enough power to start to close the starter relay but not enough to get past the resistance in the switch. I'm guessing what you hear is the starter relay opening and closing because the battery cannot supply enough power to make it to the starter. My guess would be that you need a new battery or at least a good charge. If you or someone you know has a voltmeter you can check the battery. Just sitting in the car it should be very close to 12 volts. If it is at 10 volts or below it needs to be replaced.

When turn on motor has ticking sound

2 things,

1. battery is dead, and does not have enough voltage to turn the motor over....check voltage at battery, should be 12.0 v- 12.2 v
2. starter motor is faulty, sometimes a light tap will knock it into gear, but if this works will still need to replace asap

I've had the exact same problem, it is most likely the starter. Just to be sure I'll tell you what mine did (same model and year) started to act like the battery was going bad, then sometimes would start just fine. But progressively got worse, turning over slower than before until finally it would just click. After pulling the starter I found that the bushing on the armature was missing, this was a 9 month old starter. Replaced with another new and it works just fine.
