06 Lincoln navigator front left air spring is flat and not operating

My 06 Lincoln navigator has been having air suspension problems. A couple of months ago, we replaced all three height leveling sensor arms, we also replaced the relay located above the rear passenger tire. The past week, my front end was sitting wrong when I stopped and turned the vehicle off. I couldn't decide if it was the right side staying in the down position or the right side staying up. I would stop, turn the car off, and sometimes it would be level and sometimes the left would stay higher. I would just start it back up, reverse, pull forward, and then, it would level usually level out. I parked the other evening and came out to find my left front very low, I pushed on the air spring and could push it in with my fingers, this had never been the case, they always stayed hard but the lowering or raising seemed the problem. So, I started the car, put it in gear, and the right side raised, left nothing, put in park, turned it off, and the right side went down as it should've and left did nothing. I am trying to figure out and have been reading about how the system operates and wonder if this would be the solenoid.... Please advise.

Try this from my previous post....

Have a similar problem... My 2003 Lincoln Navigator was manufactured May 22, 2003 so it's the late model that came with the Intec 5.4 Liter DOHC V-8 (not the Triton engine).

I replaced the two front ride height sensors (one for each air strut) and replaced the one rear ride height sensor that controls the ride height for BOTH rear air struts. (Yours may have one ride height sensor for each of the rear air struts.) That solved the problem for a few months during the warm months, until the weather started cooling off. Then back to the same issue.

The front passenger air strut started releasing air from the solenoid (air block) making a "hissing sound." Replaced BOTH front air strut solenoids (connected at the top of each air strut). That also resolved the problem for a few days. After going all around the world, I discovered it's the Air Ride Control Module (ASM) that was the problem all along.

the auto leveling is standard on the navigator.
first you have to understan that the auto leveling system is on front and rear of these trucks.
one way to tell is do you hear the pump running and do you have air in the front bags. and if you do you need a rear level sensor.
later paul

SOURCE: REAR AIR SHOCKS

First, you may have leaks in your bags, causing your suspension to drop. The other possibility is that your rear suspension level sensor is faulty, causing the suspension to readjust itself incorrectly.

SOURCE: I have a 2000 lincoln navigator, 4wd, and my rear

If you can get them inflated there is a switch on the passenger side that you can put in the **** off position till you get the problem resolved. Yet there is a part that is an inline part that can be leaking and must be replaced coast about $30.00. It is located in the engine compartment on the left side fender wall. It is in a airline that feeds to the Air suspension. What I did for a quick fix was a took the line apart place a 3/8 hose over it and clamped it. I have the part and never installed it because the above worked for me. Yet I do here the pump come on more often yet I was told the pump was bad. If you need to contact me email [email protected] or call 386 252 9987 fax will pick up on the 4th ring. I have a busy day tomorrow but try me later on in the afternoon 4ish. But email with the time you would be calling or leave your number. This information I am giving you cost me $500.00 to get.

SOURCE: just had car dealership repair 1997 lincoln town air ride

Those Lincolns are notorious for that,I'd just get a set of coil springs out of a Crown Victoria cop car(junk yard)and swap them out.Done it many times, you can do it in about an hour, and they'll never leak down again.By the way, there's some O-rings in that system.Make some soapy water and spray every connection, just maybe you'll get lucky.

How do I know if the suspension control module is bad in a 2005 lincoln navigator?

This is a very complicated and expensive system to maintain. I would strongly recommend doing a air suspension conversion on your Navigator and be done with the problem forever.

AIR COIL SPRINGS WILL DEFLATE AND BE DAMAGED IF YOU DID NOT TURN OFF AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM BEFORE RAISING VECHICLE AND CHANGE TIRES IF YOU DONT TURN OFF AIR SUSPENSION IT WILL CAUSE AIR SPRINGS TO OVER INFLATE CAUSE AIR SPRING SPRING DAMAGE.

make sure you don't have an air leak at the springs or the compressor. but you may want to have the air suspension module checked for fault codes. the module itself may be the issue not processing the inputs correctly and mis-leveling the vehicle.

Too expensive to maintain ,and too difficult to diagnose

Next time buy the Ford version of the vehicle

My suggestion to you and all the other folks leaving questions on this board about collapsed air suspension systems in luxury cars is to fix that one by replacing it with a real spring and shock system which you can buy at www.strutmasters.com if it is economically feasible, then sell it and avoid air suspensions systems like the plague. There are legions of old 70s Citroens still sitting idle 30 years later on collapsed air suspensions systems in garages and barns all over the country which cars the buyers can't let go because they cost so damn much. Get a coleman air mattress and use it every day, see how long it really lasts.
