Vehicle stalls while driving and I pur in in neutral while rolling and it starts up. Get to my destination and turn it off, comeback 20 minutes later and it will crank but not start, wait 20 seconds and it starts. Put on computer and shows hard code for crankshaft sensor. Also found plastic gas tank to be deformed and fuel gauge not working.
Crank shaft sensor is bad. Replace it. This sensor effects fuel to engine and spark
When failing they fail intermittently then all of the sudden a total shutdown and no start.
You could have a bad fuse for fuel gauge, electrical issues unrelated to the crankshaft sensor
Electrical gremlins take patience time and a good process of elimination
Look up how to find cause of a bad fuel gage in a year model make vehicle
Good luck
What's the question? You apparently did some diagnosis and found a possible cause for the engine quitting. Fix it or get it fixed.

Glad too hear your making progress, sounds like your dealing with a reasonable shop too. For future reference, take notes when your vehicle acts up. The more information you cn give your technician the easier it is to be fixed. Good luck, let me know how you make out.

if i am not mistaken the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump. which requires you to drop the tank and replace both.

FIrst have you tried giving the engine a tune up (ie replaced the spark plugs)
Also you need to check the condition of all the vacumn lines on the engine loss of vacumn can cause poor idling.

I have a 1995 Dodge Stratus and I had the same problems last winter it turned out to be the main brain the ECU as they call it It costas about 1200 dollars new but i scored mine from a junk yard for 10 bucks and my car hasnt done it since. They very well may be your problem because i have the same engine in my car its just a smaller body style. look on the net for spaldings used car parts u can look up parts and they usually sell ecus for 75 to a 100 dollars.

SOURCE: 999 Dodge Durango stalling and getting the NO BUS
Hi,
I had the same problem stalling losing all power shuts down and dangerous. I first thought fuel systems because it would crank but not start. After a a bit it would start up go for awhile then die again with" no bus" showing on the dash. After reading on line about so many others with the same problem I ordered a computer for 249.99+ tax recieved it out of FL(solo automotive electronics ) a few days later and installed it my self (very simple 5 min job) it fixed the problem and now seems to run and shift smoother(and no stalling) . I read countless stories of dealers failing to solve this problem costing people from $800+ for parts and labor that were not needed and then finally replace the PCM (computer) I hope this help save you some time money and frustration.
