1990 honda civic I was driving and the battery light just came on so whats up with that and how do i fix it
Generally, the battery lite will come on due to a charging problem. 1st ck to make sure belt is on and tight. 2nd if you have volt meter, with vehicle running, ck voltage at battery terminals. should be over 13.5 volts, if not, verify there is 12 volt supply to large red wire at alternator. if there is voltage at alternator, but less than 13.5 across battery with it running, replace alternator
the belt is on the drivers side of engine, the alternator is driven by the belt. it is located behind engine, on the belt line. has a single wire and a plug next to that. if never changed one before, could be quite tricky to remove.
