Beetle starts and then dies within seconds?

Engine starts normally and then dies. seems like it is shutting down on purpose. Could this have something to do with the ignition key not communicating or malfunctioning?

It could be anything. I think what you're refering to is if the ignition switch is still good.

SOURCE: my 2003 vw beetle turbo s starts then stops

it could be a number of things, hard tell w/o pluging it in to read codes.
but it could be the throttle position sensor (tps), or maybe the mass air flow (maf) sensor.
if some how you can get the trouble codes, i can help you fix it.

Won't stay running. starts but then dies within a few seconds

clearly sounds like fuel starvation, I would be looking at the throttle body, they need servicing every couple of years, they fill up with like grease and block tick over hole.....

1999 vw beetle will not start. Engine tries to start but the moment it fire up, it dies. Doesnt seem to be getting enough fuel, but fuel pump is delivering. Seems injectors are not working. Wha

It is called pulse. Lack of pulse to the injectors is a wiring problem or a Powertrain control module problem. You should have 12 volts to one side of each injector with key turned to run, do you?

Don´t despair, it´s a nice car you got there. If it´s still under warranty, it´s probably best just to take it in for a brand repair. You probably have a short circuit within the mirror casing, with a plus cable touching the metal body work. If you take the mirror off by gently pulling it with the help of a plastic ruler, you would probably find the culprit.

2000 VW Beetle dies occasionally and won't start for a while

run a scan tool on it and make sure there are no codes, if there is codes address those problems first, if no codes.. next time it won't start check for fuel preasure. it is probably a fuel pump getting ready to go out or they may be a large amount of something other than gas clogging the pick-up sock at bottom of fuel pump.

Cranks but won't start

Jus the motor shut off? Or did all the gagues, lights, everything seem to shut down? If all the gagues acted up, sounds like the ignition switch, not the lock cylinder, the acutal ignition switch.
