It is likely the large battery in the boot that has weakened, if after driving car for some time when you restart the message disappears.

This means that one of the batteries are going dead.

Most auto repair places can perform a battery test. I would have the batteries tested (the one under the hood located under the cabin air filter) and the other in the trunk. They should be able to tell you which one needs to be replaced.

These cars have a pretty high current drain when they are shut down (to maintain the computer information), so... the best thing to do is to replace them with genuine Mercedes batteries. They are absorbed glass matting type batteries and if you choose to replace them with a cheap-o battery you will regret it and have to buy another battery in the very near future.

If you are not near a Mercedes Dealer (or really just cannot afford a Mercedes battery) then make sure you get the absorbed glass matting type batteries.

Hope this info helps.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

SOURCE: display reads abs malfunction and tcs malfunction

Best to get diagnostic codes to determine fault location, you can check the ABS toothed rings on cv joints for damage or corrosion first, sometimes they split an can cause tcs & abs fault
