I know almost nothing about cars, & I cant find the answer in my cars manual.
A few days ago the interior light stopped working (the one that goes on when you open the door). I also noticed today that the light on the dash indicating that the handbrake is in use will not come on when I pull the handbrake up. (it was working this morning).
I was wondering if this is a fuse problem or something more serious.
Also the car was just recently serviced & road-worthied by an authorised ford dealer!
Please Help!
The buld in the dash that lites up the dash are burned out. well they have individual bulds so check it out.
Do you mean that when the engine is running and the park brake is on the bulb is not lighted? if so and the park brake works don't worry about it, the switch that works the light is at the base of the hand brake under the boot, they get bent or stick.

The handbrake indicator light is the only light that isnt showing. If its an idividual bulb, how do I get to it??
also, I have the manual, but the diagram of the fuses doesnt indicate if theres one for this light., & doesnt say anythign about individual bulbs.
I've just been down to check a few things in the car. When I go to start the car, ALL indicator lights on the dash are showing, but when the car is running, the brake light is off when it should be on. So would I be safe to assume that its not a bulb problem, but a connection problem?
if this is the case, the handbrake should still work, but if I've left it on, I just wont know.

:Yes! thats whats happening. I'll ask my brother-in-law to find it, cos I wouldnt have a clue what i'm looking at. Thats probably whats happened. I did notice a couple of weeks ago (before it got serviced) that the light kinda went on & off as I pulled the handbrake up, so could be wear&tear.
I'll post back when the problems sorted!
I have a new problem & it could be related.
I went to drive to work this afternoon & as I put the car into
reverse & took the handbrake off (making sure it was down since the
light wont tell me), I looked out the window & saw grey smoke. I
shut the car down fast, got out & the air smelt like burnt rubber.
I hadnt even moved an inch. What the heck could this mean? the brakes
are stuck? would this have anything to do with the indicator light not
showing up?
This is really frustrating as the car had a full service only 2 weeks ago!
OK, i feel like a complete & utter fool. As i've said, I know nothing about cars. & its funny how your mind can play tricks on you. I got the guts up to try again this morning & finally realised that its just the exhaust smoking blue-grey. then the sun came out & i couldnt see it anymore.
so embarresed now.
I still have to take it back to the guys at the garage to get the handbrake fixed
What do you need to know about the individual bulbs?
Check the fuses. also check on ebay for a used owners manual
