1999 Honda Accord steering problem

I have noticed over this past week that the automatic steering has become very stiff and actually can hold its own in a slight curve without returning to a neutral postion if I let go.... the power steering fluid checks out ok... is it a steering gear lubrication issue? some type of cv joint down there going bad?

Mine is stiff as well. I asked a mechanic and he says its either going to have to be a replacement of the steering rack or the EPS (Electromotive power steering unit) is playing up. The cost wasnt too inviting so hoping it wont be something too major then huh. That is worst case scenario. I have read that if you dont put int the correct power steering fluid then this too affects the steering. ie. leaks through seals.. hope this helps. im still on the look out for another diagnosis on mine.

2003 honda accord 2.4 power stering hard, replace pump got little softer but still hard

The steering is controlled by the steering rack,
& they get stiff because no one changes the fluid
every 3 years

The upper strut bearings fail & make steering stiff

Doubt the pump was a problem at all

2000 honda accord-changed the power steering pump and rack. still is very stiff. Is there something else I should look at?

Bearings on top of struts

Make sure that you have the correct
Honda only fluid, in the steering system

If not, flush it out

Stiff gear lever

the lever is greased from the factory and at 60k km that grease may be displaced. if you are handy enough to remove the center console around the shift lever, you can re-grease it yourself. also where the cabling connects to the transmission may be in need of adjustment if the aforementioned solution does not correct it. also be sure and service your transmission (fluid/filter changes)

99 Honda Accord and Prelude Transmissions Interchangeability

the trans will actually bolt up to the engine..but it will not work properly without the pressure switch plugged in to the harness... if u notice, there is a hole with no threads in the prelude trans..u couldnt even thread a 3rd gear pressure switch in the trans case..trust me ive seen it b4 at the dealer where i work.. i even went as far as installing the trans and when going back together, saw the difference when trying to plug the harness in...its not the same..i laugh about it now, but was very mad at myself at the time for assumeing the parts guy brought me the right part..the guy with the prelude was about to install my accord  trans in his prelude ...luckily i was able to stop him b4 he installed my trans in his prelude...i laugh about it now

Automatic or manual? May be low transmission fluid, or (less likely) bad CV joint. Have mechanic get it up on the lift and check for leaks, then spin the tires, see if the noise will manifest itself.
