Power door locks drain battery

Our power door locks drain the battery, I had to replace the door panel a year ago ond probably didn't get the wiring right. Now a year later we are having problems with the battery draining and suspect it is the door locks. What fuse do I need to remove to isolate the locks and what other accessories will I lose if I do that? My son has the car at school and I can't test things out.

What fuse controls the driver-side door panel?

For every car ever made in the history of motor cars Karen? :>D

It doesn't really work like that. The electronic windows have a fuse, but things like central locking and the alarm are controlled by the Body control Module.

Central locking on driver side only won't lock by key after getting switched replaced and car battery keeps draining

Hi,

faulty diodes or door switches are one of the few things related to doors/locks that can drain your battery. You need to ask the repair guys who changed the Window if any door lock parts were changed and the need to use a multimeter to check the battery for power loss once they fix their error.

Thank you.

Rear river side power door lock on 2006 hyundai sonata not working. Power locks working on all other doors. Is this a faulty power lock actuator for that specific door?

Yes, probably, but before you pull off the inner panel, check for broken wires in that rear door opening. You might luck out and find a broken wire for the lock. Then probably won't have to pull the inner panel off.

Hello I have a 1997 Honda civic ex coupe manual trans, my issue is that the power lock won't work and the passenger side window doesn't work either, the only one working is the driver side power window...

Most probable cause , ,,, when you open & close the door, the wires in the rubber boot (accordian like) harness in between the door hinges, get cut and will cause alot if issues, without burning a fuse !

97 Ford Taurus with wiring problem

The fans are relay controlled, likely problem. Most current demanding componants have relays because a switch circuit would burn out. All your issures are very possibly relay issues. Find the relay bank and chk yhem for overheating, burn out, or plain ole malfunction. Good Luck, -Ned-

2005 Colorado drivers side window and remote locking system

Just figured it out and replicated it 3 times..

any type of power/voltage change seems to trigger this issue

The most common symptom is power locks fail and only the driver window quits, however that is on the extended cab.

Steps to fix and it works every time.

take door panel off driver's door
Disconnect the wiring attached to window and power lock control unit
disconnect battery cables
connect the negative to the positive cable(((NO BATTERY CONNECTED)))
This will act to short residual voltage in the system

5 minutes later
place the key in the ignition and turn to the run position
connect the wiring to the window/lock controller
connect the negative cable to the battery
then the positive
open drivers side door
turn key to the off position((do not remove yet)) you should get a series of dings through speakers telling you the key is still in the ignition
once it begins dinging pull the key out and you should hear the door lock solenoids trigger and the windows should work.

Three years and a very unhappy girlfriend who owns the truck. but she's happy now.

My power locks started making noise, now my battery is dead. Can I just disconnect the power from the locks so it doesn't wear out my battery?

yes the best way is to remove the door panel and unplug the plug at the lock its on the inside of the door.but i think your problem is going to be at the drivers door jam you will most likely find chaffed wires possibly touching causing the drain and working on their own.hope this helps you.
