I have the same problem with my 03 Focus hatchback! Someone stoppedme yesterday to tell me that they looked like they were always on when i was driving but when i was in "Park" they worked... This particular driver was also driving a focus hatchback and asked me if my Cruise Control was working.. It actually was not and he told me the same thing happened with his focus. He said it was a wire attached to the back brake lights that had broken. I have not yet gotten it fixed. has anyone else had this problem?

This vehicle does not have a distributor , has electronic ignition system . Has coil pack , rectangular box with four plug wires plugged into it . What color wires were they , at the coil pack ? Are these wires going to the connector at the coil pack ? Should have battery + voltage and ground and wires going to the engine computer for control . What did the wires under the dash go to ? What color ? Looking at wiring diagrams to see what all is involved in the starter electrical circuit an the testing should be done , not trying to guess your way through a repair .

I have a 2003 ford focus and i just wanted to know if u bump the car to turn over and the crank shaft goes on each try is it froze up

most likely a problem starter motor or starter relay
take it to an accredited auto electrician and have it checked out

VEHICLE RELAYS Testing from the relay base If you have a anti-theft system problem the engine computer - PCM will not let the starter engage . Go to www.bbbind.com for a free wiring diagram of the starter circuit on your vehicle .

Your horns are behind the grill and can be a chore to get at. Before you dig into that, you know that clicking you hear? Find the box that's clicking - that's your horn relay. Try replacing that first before ripping your grill out.

It's possible that he starter relay is faulty and not able to hold the amount of charge it's suppose to. I suggest replacing it as well, and replace the starter fuse again.
If this does not help, you may need to replace the starter switch. Also, make sure all battery terminals and starter terminals are clean and secured properly; including the ground. A faulty ground can be the main source of many electrical failures, and in many cases is the issue.
