Yesterday , I was driving along and didn't realizes how little gas wasin the tank, I ran out of gas, pulled over to the side of the road andsat there for about 20 minutes while my husband went to get some gas, Ithought I might try the van again to see how empty it was , tried thekey and it started , so trying to be helpful I drove the van about a1/4 of a mile and it really died this time, husband came back withenough gas for a 1/4 of a tank , but we were unable to get it to start, what is wrong and what should we do? Help its my only vehicle? it isa 2003 Oldsmobile silhouette
Put the gas in the tank, let everything settle, turn key off, then back on to on position, but NOT start. Let the fuel relay engage the pump and draw some gas pressure. Give it a good minute and it'll start right up.
i tryed that and the van **** i can get it started if i pump the heck out of the gas peddle but i can only get 1 1/2 on rom before it dies
This van has fuel injection. Pumping the gas pedal was something we did back in the days of carburetors we pumped the pedal, but with fuel injection there is no need to do this anymore. It will only flood the engine, and when that happens it may take like an hour or more to wait before you can start it.
