Pontiac sunfire Gauges not working after Battery change

I recently replaced my 2002 pontiac sunfire's battery, and after turning the car back on my fuel gauge thermometer speedometer and tachometer no longer read. the lights in the instrument panel still work however (turn signals, check engine and so on). the car still works but i am uncomfortable driving without a speedometer at least as the cops in my town are quite strict. A friend has suggested that it might be a blown fuse, but i am unsure.

Just pull out the 10amp cluster fuse and put it back in. The cluster will pop right back up. My 2004 does it every time the battery goes dead.

I had to do it a few times and sometimes all the warning lights would stay on even when you shut the car off. I did it with the car running and with it off

There’s a ground bolt that connects the (-) in the front of the plate where the battery sits. It must be connected. It’s a frame ground. I tried to mount a top mount battery and that cable wouldn’t reach. Instrument cluster gauges were all erratic. Got the right side mount battery, connected that ground and all gauges were back to normal.

SOURCE: 04 pontiac sunfire battery light and panel lights dim

sounds like your alternator. if you have a multimeter then turn on your car and turn your headlights on/ac and heater fan on high/wipers on and blinkers on. once they are all on hook the meter to the battery and if it reads less then 14 volts then the alt is bad. or you can just take it to a shop and have it tested.

SOURCE: MY TURN SIGNAL QUIT WORKING IS THERE A FLASHER

My service manual states that the '02 T+C has a combination turn signal/hazard flasher/daytime running lights module which is located on the junction block, adjacent to and left of the steering column. To access it, you must remove the steering column lower cover and knee pad panel. There is also a fuse for turn signal/hazard flasher. If none of them work, check the fuse 1st.

check your negative ground cable first thing. make sure that it is clean on the battery and all the other places it attaches too, and there are several. disconnect the battery negative and clean it and then disconnect the positive too. when you reinstall them after at least 5 minutes make sure they are very tight. not to the point of breaking them but tight.
check back see, turn the key to the On only then off and then ON ( not start) shut it off and then start it as normal. is your check engine light on?

Have a 2002 pontiac sunfire . mostly in winter all the gauges stop working. Turn car off then back on goes back to working.

Bad connection at the plugs on the instrument panel. Usually unplugging them and plugging them back in takes care of the problem. Some times the plugs need replaced.

Changed battery now gauges stop working

you probably blew a fuse when you changed the battery.

Check all the fuses. if you have the owners manual it will tell you the location of the fuses and which ones relate to the gauges.

2003 pontiac sunfire gauges don t work. everything was fine, unhooked the battery to clean the connectors and now the gauges won't work.

the fuse pannel on the left side of the dash pull cover off and look at the diagram on the panel cover look for cluster its a 10 amp fuse. make sure your car is turned off pull out that fuse and replace it with a new one the old fuse will look like there is nothing wrong with it but it is faulty. then turn your car on and it should work just as it did before you pulled out your battery hope this solved your issue
