I have a 1996 C1500 4.3L that quit running so I replaced the fuel pump assy and filter since I could not hear the pump run. I then could not get it to start so I checked for fuel coming from the injectors and found none. I replaced theSPCI fuel injector spider with the MFI and it would start but run for no more than 10 seconds. I replaced the fuel pump relay and bought a fuel pressure gauge but could only get a reading of a few pounds when the pump ran to prime. I then tried a jumper wire on the oil pressure/fuel pump circuit but no change. I don't think the pump runs after priming but don't know where to look next.
SOURCE: starts then quits
Was there fuel pressure before you changed everything? It could also be the pressure regulator sticking or bad. When you crank it over and let off the key you should hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds and then shut off. If it is doing that then I would be looking to see if you have likes hooked up wrong at the back of the engine or try replacing the pressure regulator.

I replaced the fuel pump assembly again but no change. I checked for voltage at the fuel pump connector while the engine ran and found 12 volts. Replaced mass air flow since it was original and no change. Ran wires from battery to pump and no change. I figure the pump is weak or the regulator is bad even though both are new. Anyone had this happen?
I checked the ground to the fuel pump and it was not good. The spot on the frame where it is grounded even had poor results after cleaning to bare metal. Found my ground strap from back of engine to firewall/frame was bad. Replaced the strap with a #10 AWG wire and it runs great. Keep an eye on this groung strap since the battery negative goes to the engine block then this strap grounds the frame.
