1997 Dodge Ram Van gas pedal stuck almost had wreck?

I just had the computer replaced and one week later the foot pedal stuck while driving. I had to turn off the engine. Now it is at full acceleration. Could it be the new computer?

thank you,

Mike

I honestly don't see how changing the computer could cause this - I would first suspect a broken return spring on the throttle body. With the engine off, trace the gas pedal's linkage (or cable) back to the point where it attaches to the engine (throttle body or carbuerator if not fuel-injected). There will be a shaft it attaches to on the throttle body (or carb). Disconnect the linkage at this point and try to rotate this by hand, it should snap back when released. If it does, you probably have a 'frozen' cable which needs replaced. Don't forget to replace the linkage where you removed it now. If it doesn't, look for a 'missing spring' on the throttle body's side or any place the linkage appears bent or could 'snag' on anything. If the attachment point doesn't rotate smoothly or 'binds', or kind of 'wobbles' in it's holes the shaft bushings need replaced or the shaft is bent and needs rebuilt. While your'e there, regardless, you should take some 3-in-1 oil and lightly lubricate any points where the shaft, cable, or linkages touch any other part.

How to fix code p1255 on my 1997 dodge ram 1500 5.9

thought? must be using a English translator, that's ok but confusing.
1500 ram not VAN
USA car or NOT, no country told (sad face)
manual transmission or automatic
2wd or 4wd?
I can not find 1255 in the book.(SM)
1255 is stated at dodge forum as (but is wrong for 1997)

P1255 Pedal Correlation PDS2 and LPDS Low
PDs means throttle(gas) pedal switch , that does not exists here..

that means the throttle by wire is bad, (but there is no TBW in 1997)
did you type the dtc wrong or year wrong IDK but seems wrong
learn that P1xxx codes are OEM only factory only codes for one model car and engine.

do not read posts about other cars and P1255 or you get endless lies. P0xxx codes are standardized USA and p1, and p2 up are not.
DO not read inernet lies that claim, chevy DTC codes are the same and DODGE or go broke fast you will
for sure P1xxx codes !!!

looks like dodge use this code 3 times
bad O2
bad MAP
and later mid 2000s bad PDS.
fun is not there, to learn what it is,
but do read here. USA cars/trucks if is (or Canada)

97 dodge caravan start and stall in morning, if warm up 5-10 minutes then no driving problem. if warm up not enough the van will lose idling and stall at stop sign or when my foot is leaving the gas pedal....

The choke function is not working on a cold engine.
1 clean throttle body and IAC motor air pathways.
2. Check for engine codes, you are looking for a code that relatws to the wngine temperature sensor.

Have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. Truck runs fine until it heats up and the termostat kicks in. It will not idle and the rpms go up and down between 300 and 1000 then stalls. When on the highway it runs fine...

likely your throttle position sensor or idle air control valve. Try disconnecting each one when the problem starts if it corrects you have found the culprit.
