Oil filter adapter lines from block adapter to remote oil filter

The oil lines going to the radiator is your transmission cooler lines, you will look for a smaller radiator and its connections, usually connected using an oil filter adapter.

You might be able to buy an adapter for the oil filter that is designed for an oil cooler, such as for trucks. The adapter goes between the oil filter and the block.

It seems that you have a bad oil filter adapter seal. You can usually pick one up at your local parts store, if not, they may have to order it. To change the seal you must first remove the lines close to block and the you shoul be able to unscrew the oil cooler adapter from the block, may require an allen wrench to loosen. Then you should replace the seal or gasket inbetween the block and the cooler adapter and then reinstall the adapter, reconnect the lines. Be sure to catch the oil in a clean container so you can reuse it to pour back into the block, check the oil level and if at a safe range start the vehicle and check for leaks. If no leaks you should be ready to drive at will.

Make sure the seal from the old filter is not still stuck on the housing. If it is it will leak for sure. I always smear some oil on the new filter seal before putting it on. I also fill the new filter with oil.

You're going to need an engine lift and wheel ramps or jack and jack stands. Remove the left motor mount through bolt and block up with wooden block. Take the splash shield off the bottom of the motor. You know the panel that the oil filter is behind. Do the oil cooler lines screw into the radiator or are they retained by quick disconnects i forget? You'll need a one long extension and a swivel to get the bolt at the engine boss. The rest of the lines are pretty self explanatory.

No, the remote oil line hose needs to be replaced. There is an easier fix to this other then replacing the remote oil line. Just to make sure were on the same page, the transmission line has no rubber line and is a one piece metal line from the transmission to the radiator on the passenger side. The remote engine oil line is on the drivers side and is rubber and goes to the radiator and remote oil filter housing. That is the hose that is common to leak at the factory compression clamp where the rubber hose connects to the metal line. The factory compression clamp can be cut off and just place the rubber hose or replace the oil line and replace the compression clamp. Make sure it's a compression clamp and not a hose clamp, the compression clamp has a better all round clamping force to the hose and less to fail then the hose clamps. oil filter screws onto an adapter housing which also has the pressure sending unit on it (above oil filter). This adapter housing bolts to the block with 3 bolts. if oil appears to be leaking from where the adapter housing meets the block (especially at the rear side of engine near bottom), then you need to replace the siamese o-rings between the adapter housing and the block ($12 part at dealer). remove lowest 12mm bolt and loosen top 2 12 mm bolts(top 2 bolts won't come out unless you drop the engine down, but loosening 1 inch is all you need), replace o-rings and retighten bolts. be careful not to get dirt/grit between block and adapter. just finished doing this to son's 95 2.7 v6 which was leaving an 8" puddle of oil after idling for only 1 minute-worked perfect

There is a rubber o-ring between the oil filter adaptor and the engine block that needs replacement.
Disconnect the two oil cooler lines from the adaptor. remove oil filter. Two torx head bolts mount the adaptor to the block. rmove these and replace o-ring. Assemble in the reverse order of removal.

Inspect where the oil is leaking from the oil cooler line, it's common for the oil to leak from the remote oil cooler line adapter bolt on the engine block. You can remove the two bolts one at a time and place a oil drain plug washer with some RTV silicon to ensure that it will not leak.

The other common place for the oil line to leak is from where the rubber lines mate to the aluminum line from the remote oil filter line adapter. This is also a simple fix but you're going to need a drumlin tool cut off the old compression clamp that was press fit. Cut off the old compression fitting ring, use cation that you only cut off the ring and replace it with a new compression clamp. Make sure you use compression clamps and not a hose clamp.

This is the best way to fix the oil leak from the adapter line to the rubber hose line, to replace the whole line with the new adapter is expensive and i believe your have to disconnect the engine mount to raise the engine to clear enough room to install the new line along the frame.

Good luck and don't use any engine oil stop leak, it will damage your oil pressure relieve valve and that's one extra thing you don't need to replace.

Either its cracked or gasket needs replaced.
