I have the same Jeep model 5.2L V8, to replace the alternator, check the next procedure...

Once the determination is made that the alternator is at fault, off vehicle testing can be used to determine the defective component inside the alternator.
See Figures 1 through 11

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. If necessary, remove any splash shielding for easier access to the alternator.

1. Tag and disengage the alternator wiring.

It may be necessary to remove the alternator and mounting bracket from the vehicle as an assembly.

1. If equipped, remove the front alternator assembly mounting plate.

1. Unfasten the alternator mounting and pivot bolts and remove the alternator.
2. If installing the original alternator assembly, push out the pivot bushing as illustrated.

To install:

1. Mount the alternator to the brackets with the nuts and bolts. Tighten the two mounting bolts and nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
2. If the alternator and mounting bracket were removed as an assembly, install the assembly into the vehicle.
3. If removed, install the front mounting plate.
4. Engage the alternator electrical connections.
5. If removed, install the splash shield.
6. stall the drive belt and attach the negative battery cable.

do not have a diagram, but heres the firing order. 1-2-3-4-5-6, 1-3-5 is in back, # 1 is closest to alternator. from left to right, or facing engine from front 2-4-6 is in front. 5-2-3-6-4-1 is coil pack, from left to right (facing from front of engine).

According to Saturn timing specifications, the internal firing order for the Saturn 1.9L motor, both Single overhead cam, or Twin cam is as follows:
Left to right 1-3-4-2

If you are routing spark plug wires, and need to know the order of wires from the coils to the engine, the order is as follows:
Left to right 4-1-2-3

You will find #3 plug on the firewall side of the engine. rear plug just in front of the transmission bell housing. See the attached picture. Should you need further help please just ask. If this is for the 3.0L Vulcan engine, it's really easy. There are two mounting bolts and a stud nut. The mounting bolts go through the left side of the mounting bracket and through the alternator (it's at the top of the serpentine assembly). You'll have to take the stud not off from the lower intake manifold to remove the second mounting bracket. Make sure you disconnect the negative battery terminal first so that you don't fry anything. You'll also have to remove the nut that attaches the ground to the alternator and remove the wiring harness. The nut is enclosed in a black rubber pocket that protects the connection from moisture. After you've done all this, just pull it up and off the assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Hello, This job is alot harder on your car than most that's for sure. It really depends on your mechanical ability and time vs the amount your willing to pay someone else. This job is easy if your not afraid to loosen the passenger motor mount and slid the engine forward about an inch with a pry bar. (Which sounds alot harder than it is) But the Hanes manual lists alot of things to do to get around the motor mount.

Per Haynes Manual.
Place Coolant Expansion Tank to one side.
Lift out Power Steering Reservoir and put to one side.
Remove DriveBelt.
Unscrew Wiring Loom bolt and move wiring to one side.
Remove Ground Cable from Strut Tower.
Bent the ground bracket down as much as possible.
Move Canister Purge Valve to one side.
Remove Plastic Cover from Alternator.
Unscrew and the alternator mounting bolt nearest the engine first.
Unscrew the other retaining bolt until it has fully disengaged from the bracket (not possible to remove bolt from alternator at this stage).
Lift the alternator out, Pulley side facing upwards.
Take care not to damage or you might screw your surrounding components!

Use a Direct ignition, It's mean COIL on PLUG.
Each cylinder use one coil.
The firing order is ; 1-2-3-4-5-6..
The cylinder 1-2-3 are located at the FIREWALL side, starting from the Belt Side..
4-5-6 are Located at the Radiator side, starting from the belt .
