SOURCE: 1994 BMW 530i replaced the fuel pump the car will not start
i have the same problem right now. the relay is located under the big black box on passenger side of engine compartment. There are three relays in there. orange, blue and white. I dont know which is associated with the fuel pump though.

Battery is in trunk compartment. Must be positioned exactly and locked down. Not easy to do and keep in position unless using BMW battery. There is a slight size difference (BMW wants to sell their batteries - at inflated price.) Save yourself the headaches and get BMW battery. In the meantime, just move your battery position a little bit until trunk light comes on. Car will start if trunk light is on - unless the problem is really something else. Hope this helps. Let me know.

Fuel pressure regulator, Happens once and a while. Replace it and the fuel will hold pressure again.

Just leave the ignition on for maybe 5 minutes.
Allow the fuel to get pumped back to the engine.
I'm assuming it's an auto.
Hold the throttle to the floor for about 20 seconds & then try turn it over.
(Don't forget to take the foot off if it starts up!)
There's a good chance your fuel filter is clogged up with any dirt/debris that might have been in the end of your fuel tank.
I would suggest replacing the fuel filter in the mean-time even if it does start.
Fuel pumps are known to break if the fuel line runs dry, a bit like some water pumps I suppose. You should be able to hear this when the ignition is at position II (just before starting). If it's running this obviously isn't the problem.
Check the fuses if you can't hear the pump. (You never know).
Let me know how you get on!
Car
not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition
coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
To
confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
