I have a 98 toyota camry with 91,300 miles on it. About 1,500 miles ago the oxygen sensor was changed, not sure if all were done (have to check the paperwork). Also, the power steering pump and hose were changed due to a bad leak. At the same time got the oil and battery changed. Car runs great but today the check engine light came back on, not blinking. I feel pretty upset, could it be that its a notification for a 90,000 mile service? Does the 98' camry even have this feature? This is what I am hoping, but im sure it probably doesn't exist. Will get the codes tomorrow. The car is a Toyota camry le V6, I have had it for almost 4 years now with NO problems and only regular oil changes. The lady before me was old and had oil changes and maintenance done all the time. Also, I had the water pump and timing belt replaced when I first bought it because I was hearing a rattling noise. I haven't gotten it in for a 90,000 service yet. What could this be?

On the 98 toyota camry check that the gas cap is on tight or look at my fix on the toyota sienna that could be it or a vacumm hose could be split or leaking i would have these checked before you get into very expensive repairs look for the obvious first

I had the same problem in my 3sFE, I thought the same way you did, but it turn out to be the fan, check if there is any play in the fan, change it and your scrutching noise will be no longer there

for the whirring noice, check for the power steering fluid level, if it's low refill with power steering fluid to the propper level. If the level its fine and the noise continues you have to tighten the engine belts via the tensioner bearings. As for the battery light it's probably letting you know that the alternator is failing, when the light comes on it means that in that precisse moment the alternator isn't charging the battery and that could lead you to a dead battery. (The alternator has a line that it's in charge of activating the battery light if this cable is loose that could make the light go on, secure that cable and if the light never comes on then the alternator is fine) Hope that helps

Oh yes, and the spark plugs were changed about two years ago, and I just had the brakes done at the same time as the oxygen sensor and pump.
Okay, today dropped it off and just got the call, they say that the code was for the vapor pressure sensor...However, when they ran the diagnostics on it everything looked dandy! WTH!!?? So, they are wondering if it is in fact the vapor pressure sensor or maybe the computer??? Big price difference between the two. What do I do? Reset it and wait and see? Replace the vapor pressure sensor and keep my fingers crossed??
