Servo -Band got burnt for the 3rd time now

Hi Ginko,
Car: 2002, Volvo S60 2.0T [50-55LE]

My mechanic had my automatic gearbox overhauled, but had to remove it now for the third time, as the servo-band get burnt each time. He suspect that the washer between the servo pistonn and cab aleigned skew for one or other reason and cause the piston to malfunction and from there the burning of the servo band.

He got the advise from a bloke in South Africa to remove this washer. Should he done or what else could he do.

Thanks

scan the PCM for tranny errors for sure reverse. solenoids and reverse gear is band actviated.
there are 3 gears (at least) called SELECTIONS

does L work ,car move in loW?
does D work shift up 1,2,3,4? OR SLIPS OR FLARES

test 1 is make sure shift linkage really does R detent

the shifter goes to R

It a Toyota corolla nze 2001 with mileage 200k km

As advised by your mechanic, my advise is no different, in the gearbox there are what we term as teeth of different gears and synchronizers...being in such behaviour, your car needs a gearbox overhaul or replacement depending on which will cost you less

2006 ford fusion solenoid 2 mechanical failure the trains now only shifts between 1st, 3rd and reverse respectively. the fluid was burnt pretty bad so i did a full system flush it shifts smoother but still...

solenoids can be replaced with out affecting the transmission
however the burnt oil indicates that the transmission may need a band/ clutch pack adjustment
shifting problems are servo/ solenoids , TR sensor , VSS sensor or the TCM

My volvo 2003 s60 transmission slips when the car warms up. I live in Nevada. What to do?

I'm assuming you have an automatic trans. So the first thing is check the transmission fluid. To do this have car warmed up, idling, and sitting level. Pull out the transmission dipstick and check level, add if necessary. Also check and see if the fluid has a burnt smell. If the fluid was low and you added fluid road test and if it still slips, and/or the fluid had a burnt smell the transmission needs to be serviced or overhauled. To have major transmission work done go to a good transmission shop, unless you have a lot of mechanical know how and experience I don't reccommend trying this one on your own. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
