The heater only blows HOT air when set on defrost or floor settings. If you have the lever set for vent, only cold air will come out. Check to make sure you set the controls to floor or defrost. This is standard for all Festiva's.

2001 ford winstar top radiator hose stays cold, even close to the thermostat area i can hold on to the housing after the car has ran for 30 minutes, heater blows luke warm to warm at times, but not...

Check the heater hoses for warmth at the heater core. Some designs do not use a waterflow valve, but instead always have heater core flow and use the air flaps to regulate heat.

Now there is a difference in some thermostats and the housings. Barely noticeable are the locking tabs inside the housing and on the thermostat ring. If you have this setup and the thermostat is not locked in place, you could get some bypass around the thermostat.

If you have an electric cooling fan, the Relay may be stuck, keeping the electric cooling fan running when it should not. This would overcool the engine.

Hot air is blowing cold in my 2001 ford escort flight

check coolant level first. possible bad thermostat, blockage, heater core is bad. check to see if a hose going into heater core is hot, if the hose is hot and the other is cold you have a blockage in heater core. if so, sometimes you can remove the hose from heater core and flush it out with a garden hose. if above fails, flush whole system.

Flush coolant system out first with prestone or peak coolant flush if problem still exist replace heater core.

Heaters blow cold

could be heater core failure.

If the temp guage remains cold....the thermostat is stuck open, therefore coolant is running thru the motor always. Therefore, no heat anywhere, and poor gas mileage.

HEATER

Check the coolant level.Feel the heater hoses going to the heater core to see if they are warm,or hot.If one of them is warm,or hot,and the other is not, remove the heater hoses, and flush the heater core out with a water hose.Bleed the coolant system, and you might want to install a new thermostat while you are at it.

Heater blows cold

If no coolant flowing through the heater core then ther is no heat. There are 2 possible root causes needed to check out: 1- THE VALVE TO CONTROL THE COOLANT FLOWING TO THE HEATER CORE IS NOT OPENING AS DESIRED. 2- THE HEATER CORE GOT CLOGGED UP AND NEED TO BE FLUSHED.
