You will need to replace the speedometer in the dash, there is another sensor inside which can not be replaced separately. this sensor actually sends the speed information to the computer.

That sounds like a left front wheel bearing gone bad My friend.. turning right transfers weight to the left side and it probably has a roar similar to a turbo fan jet.. Try it and lemmie know.. thank you

SOURCE: 2005 Toyota Corolla with 36,000 miles Transmission now "jumps" into gears

hi,
when the check engine light comes on, your car goes into a mode where instead of everything being normal, things are forced, to try and compensate for something else being wrong. It most likely does need a new timing belt, and a complete tuneup INCLUDING plugs and wires. we have a 1984 toyota corolla and it purrs like ground rice, I suggest the tuneup to continue proper rice production.

SOURCE: have a 96 camry 4

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

My 1990 4Runner shook majorly when hitting speeds of 70MPH and up. The front shocks needed replacing and the tires had worn unevenly and needed to be rotated and balanced.

Have 97 gmc suburban. Has a jerk to it when I'm crusein on highway and from time to time seems as if im hitting a bunch of little bumps an it boggs down. I let off gas it stops what could this b?

Could be the fuel filter. Watch the speed it happens. IE.. Ok at 50 MPH, hit 60 MPH it starts jerking. Clogged filers will give the pressure need, just not the volume of fuel need at higher speeds.

I have a 2005 Chevy Uplander, and when driving on the highway at about 60-65, the van occasionally drops RPM's and when you press the gas harder, it recovers without any jerking or anything. The same...

This is a rare one and can be tricky. Since your rpm gauge rises back up when you increase your acceleration slightly but you feel no jerking of acceleration then this tells me that a speed/rpm senser either has a bad connecton or the sensor itself is going bad when the engine reaches an optimum heat while driveing on the highway. Since you feel no acceleration when you slightly press the accelerator down but yet the rpm gauge is increasing back to normal, the throttle body sensor may be compensating for the failed speed sensor/failed sensor connector. Please get your uplander diagnosed properly first to confim this.

Spedometer

You need a new speed sensor put in the transmission housing or the plug to it has faulty wire ends.If the sensor is leaking oil the you need one for sure,if the plug is wet with oil when you pull it out then replace the sensor.

"car jerks/jumps"

These is because of the improper combustion, so you better check the air filter and the exhaust along with that you replace all the spark plugs

Replaced speed sensor, spedometer still not working.

Your instrument is bad, The spiral coil for the needle is alraedy out ot calibration therefore it has been jumping around. Even they reset, it already been stretching. It needs a new one.
Don't waste mony for the reset.
It is probebly expensive from dealer plus labor. Just to check out the price,
You can get a used one from ebay for $85. However, you need to know how to replace it. Let me know it you need any help.
Meanwhile you can gauge your RPM to keep your speed under control on the long trip. For example: 2000 rpm is about 55 mph. Try to keep it below 3000 rpm so you don't get over speed limit.
