SOURCE: 2002 Ford Escape will not shift into drive

This is the shift lock...you will need battery to release it electrically but there is an over ride by the shifter..either a button to push or a place to put your ignition key. This will release the shifter

SOURCE: Ford Escort 1997 Problems shifting gears

the speed sensor is located on the passenger side of the transmission , it has a 2 wire connector and is held down by 10mm bolt and clamp , sometimes the sensor will get stuck in the transmission when trying to remove it . persistence and a little WD-40 will help !

SOURCE: manual transmission takes effort to put in gear.

Have the clutch looked at. If the clutch is not releasing fully it makes shifting difficult. Have the trans fluid changed too, it isn't expensive and probably is listed under your maintanance in the owners manual

SOURCE: my 1997 ford taurus transmission slips when it shifts to second

this is caused by a piston in the transmission that has a crack in it once it warms up the crack seals and operates normally.being cold the crack opens up allowing fluid to flow past it. take to trans shop as soon as you can, will be minimum repair if it has not caused further damage in the transmission.

I have removed the ignition barrel on BF Ford Falcon in position 1 but the bit in the steering column has sprung back to 0 position and the barrel now wont go back in.Help please

I would think you could rotate the "bit" back to the #1 position with a screwdriver or insert a key, and rotate the lock to the #0 position.

Bf falcon auto wont select gear or drive

My 2003 BA had the same problem and it was the bush on the end of the gear selector cable, but required getting a new cable. Don't know if this is relevant for you.
