2004 pontiac grand am wont start

My car has only 57,000 miles, and a couple times has not started(cranks but wont start) (once it wouldn even turn over) but after sitting a few days it started. When i try starting it the gages go kinda wacky... should the gages go all the way to the top and then back down again when i turn the key on? Im wondering if maybe its the computer or maybe someone else has had a proplem like this that can let me know what to do.

Yes the gauges should go up and down they are selftesting your starting problem could be starter related they were having problems with those, also try turning ignition to the on position for 3 seconds before trying to start, also gm has a tsb for hard start issues

2004 grand am se v6 sometimes wont start unless gas pedal is pushed

when you say -turn over do you mean firing-turning over to me means the starter motor is cranking or turning over-firing is when combustion happens in the cylinders-as far as the cranking continuing-try some wd40 in the ignition switch-it may be hanging up-Denny

98 GRAND PRIX WONT CRANK SOMETIMES

This is a trick some folks do to figure out if it's the starter. When the car doesn't crank, take something like a bat or a metal bar and hit the starter and few times. If the car starts right away then it's your starter, otherwise you might consider the fuel pump relay/fuel pump.

Wont start

Have you checked for fault codes? Has the fuel pressure been checked? Does it start if you spray starting fluid into the air intake of the engine?

I have a 97 pontiac grand prix and it will turn over but it wont start. i've had it look at my a couple mechanics and they said it wasnt my fuel pump maybe its the coil pack, so i buy a new set of

Learning how to test a GM distributor less ignition system rather then guessing an replacing parts is the proper way to diagnose . Pulling a couple of pull wires of the same coil an having someone crank the engine over to see if there is spark would the first test . If there is no spark ,could be the ignition module , or the crankshaft postion sensor .

The car starts 99% of the time but every once in a while it won't restart after it has been driven for a few miles. It cranks over but won't start until it has been sitting awhile.

first you need to check if its fire or fuel the next time it wont start pull the plug wire off and hold it close to metal and have someone crank it if it sparks check to see if you got fuel pressure at fuel rail or throttle body but be careful it could be high pressure if no spark an intermittent problem could be ecm or crank sensor no fuel pressure could be fuel pump in tank

I have a 2004 Pontiac grand am not wanting to start, Have a 2004 Pontiac grand am not wanting to start, it just cranks like it's out of gas but wont start. Had this problemHave a 2004 Pontiac grand am not...

Does it start soetimes? Has it been down all this time? Is it got enough gas? the gauge can be wrong. fuel pumps and gauges are failing alot as the tequies used to steal gas are breking things that peaple don't think about. Peaple steal gas to get to the job they haven't gotton yet. It's getting bad out there It was only once in a while I found this problem but now it's everyday. One in 5 no starts are out of gas and most of the peaple said they keep the tank full ( thier thief knows you and gets plenty, then next htings you know he bends the fuel gauge sender and takes all you gas or you don't but more as you think you have some and you don't.

2003 Pontiac Grandam wont start

if you are not hearing the pump turn on there's a good chance that its the fuel pump most gm's have a faulty wiring on the fuel pump harness id check the relay and wiring if theirs power to the pump but not crank that would be it id get a gm pump not a carter better to use oem

2004 grand am won't start, but tries...

Sounds like your battery is on the way out. Have a load test done on battery & voltage check on alternator. If all works well once it starts, I'd bet on the battery, but load test will confirm, which they will do for free usually if your buying the battery from them.
