My battery light came on multiple times this week. Car was running. It went into limp mode, lost gears wont start. Two codes showing are P0700 and P0622. What could it be?

P0622 has to do with the alternator field coil. If possible, have your alternator inspected/tested. Check circuit for wiring issues- broken/exposed wires, etc.

I have an 2002 Cavalier Z24. I recently brought it in for repairs. The Technician replaced the ECM/PCM and it's still acting the same way....the alternator just won't charge the battery. it's a new battery...

Hey Joe , The first thing to do would be check for battery voltage on the heavier gage wire on the back of the alternator , if there is no voltage here there is a open circuit ! Which means the fusible link fried . This wire comes from the starter ! This charging system is controlled by the PCM , but they are rarely the problem . Do you have the charge indicator lit on the dash ? Do you have a check engine light on ? This system can set DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes !

P0601, and p0622

P0622 is "Generator field 'F' control circuit malfunction"- your alternator has a circuit malfunction in the voltage regulator function. You need to have the charging system checked. It may be a wiring problem in the circuit to the alternator. A shop needs to test it out.
P0601 is "Internal control module memory check sum error"- I have no idea what that means, but is probably set because the charging system has a malfunction, and the result may be memory loss in the control module when the alternator acts up. Have the 0622 fixed, erase the codes, and see if the 0601 returns. That is what I would do, anyway.

What is code p0622

Hi there:

DTC P0622 - Generator Field Control Circuit
This is a trouble code relates to the charging system and means that the Powertrain Control Module is trying to control the generator field with no result during monitoring.

This problem could be caused:
- open/shorted within the field control circuit between the PCM and the alternator ( a brown/gray wire ),
- generator ground circuit (brown/black wire),
- generator itself, or
- faulty PCM.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Need to know what p0622 and p2503 diagnostic codes are. is this my battery? this is on an 2005 grand caravan

Sounds more like an alternator problem. Check output voltage of alternator, code P2503 indicates low voltage. Check/clean all connections at battery and alternator, as well as check all fuses/relays under hood in fuse relay box, just in case fuse blown as well. If all checks out good, you may need a new alternator.
