AC not working on 2001 Mercury Villager

AC compressor not kicking on. Clutch does not engage when AC turned on. I pulled the sensor and closed the circut to test. When closed the clutch would activate when AC turned on so I figured it was a low freon issue. When I attempted to charge system it refused to take freon and pressure stayed at around 35 psi which sounds like normal range. So I am stumped. Any ideas?

AC will not run unless the clutch is energized. You got it to engage by jumping power line. Check to see if there is a relay in the circuit that gets power to the clutch. 35PSI at 3000 rpm at 75 degrees ambient is about right. How about checking the AC on/off switch? Get a schematic and chech any component in the power trail to the clutch.

Hello maddaddy23...if the low pressure switch on your villager is not stuck open, check the compressor clutch coil it could be open (shorted or loose), Check the climatic control switch... and last but not least make sure compressor operation has not been interrupted by ECM...
Good luck...i hope this helps

you may need to top up the coolant,r112,r140or what ever the car is useing. if the car can'nt be topped up then you have a leak that needs to be fixed, usually the drier.

I just replaced my ac clutch on my 2001 mercury grand marquis and it worked great, now on my second day the clutch is not engaging and the ac is not blowing cold

The clutch will not engage if the refrigerant charge is low. You will need to find where the leak is (may even be the compressor itself) by using leak detection dye, and you will need to recharge the system. MAKE SURE TO USE THE CORRECT RATIO OF PAG OIL TO REFRIGERANT WHEN YOU RECHARGE THE SYSTEM.

Compressor and fans do not turn on until rev engine

I passed this question the first time I read it, so I will take a stab at it now.
The fans don't come on until the compressor has pumped the freon pressure up to say 150 or 200 psi. And the compressor clutch has to have voltage to engage the clutch.
I wonder if the clutch is going and needs 14 volts instead of 12 to engage ? Or the relay that powers the clutch ?
Speeding up the engine would increase voltage from the alternator.
This is assuming the serpentine belt is tight and everything else is working correctly.
I think I would swap the relay with another and put a meter on that circuit to the ac clutch to see what it takes to engage it.

Why does the compressor for the ac on my 2003 ford focus keep clicking ?

I assume it's because your clutch is engaging and disengaging. Could be from a loose electrical plug to your compressor coil on the compressor. It could be a loose plug to the pressure sensor or a bad pressure sensor because that sensor will shut it off if the car is low on Freon causing low pressure in the system. Could be low on Freon so it's on the edge of having enough pressure to turn it on and then shuts it down again because it dips below the pressure threshold when the compressor kicks in. Could be a bad compressor coil that engages the clutch. Maybe a loose connector to the AC Button in the car or the AC Button is intermittent. Could be an intermittent relay engaging the compressor clutch. That's a good list of what all could cause it and if you end up needing to replace the compressor, I made a video on how I did it.

I have a 2001 Ford Mustang V6, the ac is blowing warm air. We checked the refrigerant and it is full. The ac compressor will kick on for a few seconds and then kick off. Why is the compressor not staying...

it's either low (in spite of your readings) or your a/c clutch is not working correctly or you have too big an air gap in the clutch.
First, just disconnect the 2 pin connector from the a/c pressure cycling swithc and jumper the 2 pins with a wire to force the clutch to stay engaged. See if it blows cold then, and stays engaged. You can run this way for about 15 minutes before you have to pull the plug.
report reulsts.

AC compressor only runs when the van is motion. When I stop at a light the compressor kicks of and the cold air gets hot.

your ac compressor clutch is bad and needs to be replaced and honestly it usally better to just replace the entire compressor

if it helps could you leave me feedback please thanks

Ac won't turn on?

Your compressor clutch is not engaged that was why AC is not on. The clutch is controlled by several sensors: coolant temp, refrigerant pressure, compressor speed sensor, evaporator temp sensor... First to make sure your Clutch is working then start tracing back to these other sensors. Look at the compressor, there is a plug of electrical wire on it. One prong is for speed sensor feedback, the others are for power connectors to turn on the clutch. Jump wires to power to clutch to check if it is working. That is just the beginning of AC troubleshooting. Good luck.

The ac is blows but the air is not cold.... the compressor is working the ac clutch may not be engaging

if refrigerating system low in presure(low refrigerator level)presure sensor wil not send signal to engage clutch...the second think if system under normal pressure check electrical connectors if they ok,a/c compressor is faulty.

2000 Mercury Villager compressor wont kick on

PERHAPS IT IS JUST A BAD RELAY THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HAVE YOU TRIED TO SWAP IT WITH ANOTHER ONE IN THE FUSE BOX? THIS MAYBE THE ONLY TROUBLE. MAKE SURE THAT THE FUSE IS ALSO GOOD BEFORE THE RELAY IS REPLACED. HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING IN ADVANCE. BEST OF LUCK. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED.
