2005 Dodge Durango gas smell around gas cap area

I have a gas smell around the gas cap arae for past Month. I took the durango to my local Dodge dealership and the can not find the cause of the gas smell (but they smell the gas also and I am not leaking any gas). I've been told that there is a gas overflow filter that could be the cause of this smell. Where is it located at? And can I replace myself.

Thank You,
Dan

NO NO NO.....GO TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO A SMOG STATION AND ASK THEM TO TEST THE GAS CAP FOR YOU. VISUALLY LOOKING AT A GAS CAP WILL NOT TELL YOU GOOD OR BAD. THEY CHARGE 10.00 AND WILL TELL YOU IF THE GAS CAP IS LEAKING. DONE IT TOO MANY TIME WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER.

Numerous Questions

One suggestion I have is that each of the new type of engine's have an O2 sensor which is part of the exhaust. This is used by the computer to measure the amount of O2 in the exhaust gasses in the exhaust.

2005 durango interior light will not shut off

Check with your local Dodge dealer. They had a recall early on for the cluster in the dash. The interior lights power comes through there. They do fail and it may be a warranty deal, If it qualifies. I have seen this happen and the cluster ( speedometer) took care of the problem.
