The 1998 Isuzu Trooper is identical to the 1996 & 1997 Troopers with the 3.2L V6 motor. Chilton-Haynes have a decnet and detailed manual for this car. It's available on Amazon.com. That's where I got mine!

SOURCE: Isuzu Trooper 1997. Automatic Transmission holds gears too long.

Their is a power and normal drive in trooper's power for pulling a trailer and normal for normal driving. The power drive only changes gear at higher R.P.M. Their is a switch on the plastic cover under the handbrake with p & n their is a light in the dash as well. If you are not aware of this switch then just needs switching over if you are aware of it then its probably the fuse to activate it or a wiring problem with it, Cheers

Testimonial: "I know the switch. But nothing changes when I switch back and forth. No light on the dashboard either. I don't know if it is in normal or power."

Where is the starter switch located in a 1995 isuzu trooper LS. Not sure if there talking about key switch or other in column.

The key lock cylinder operates the ignition switch sometimes ignition switch is separate sorry I didn't find where ignition switch is located if the lock cylinder is plugged into it.
You should have a starter relay and starter relay fuse.
This diagram of starter circuit shows the clutch pedal switch in the circuit on an automatic should have the neutral safety switch in the circuit. This is for 95 Rodeo.

My 1998 Isuzu trooper when cold it has delayed shift fom first to second then it shifts ok

sounds like a dirty oil or filter problem. It is taking this long for the viscosity of the oil to change to allow shifting. Run fault codes as well consider having an oil change done on the transmission ( oil colour should be cherry red not tan coloured.)

I have a 89 isuzu trooper 2 water pump blew so changed it and now I am over heating fast. Got a new thermostat and rad cap still over heats. Took the return line off at firewall and seen if it was blocked...

If there is no liquid in your oil, or you oil doesn't look white and mucky on your dipstick, you need to replace your radiator. If your oil is white and mucky on the dipstick, you have bad head gaskets.

Where is the starte located on a 1985 Isuzu Trooper?

you can only really see it from under the vehicle i had the same prob but i found it. its behind the bell housing and in front of the oil pan if your laying under the car with your feet out in front of the car, look to follow the same sort of wires that come off the battery to the starter. It is above part of the exhaust and is close to the driver side wheel well.
