I have a 2002 pontiac grand prix 3.1L. I have a big oil leak which I think is coming from the oil pump but not sure. Were is it located, is it at the bottom of the engine just to the side of the oil filter, because that is were the leak is coming from. It is a steady stream of oil. and is it hard to repleace if that is the case
I just recently noticed a puddle of oil too! It looks like a line that runs near the radiator. I just wish it wasnt so freaking cold out to actually work on it.

oil leak below pulleys at front of engine. can not locate source. it seems to collect in a engine cavity and drips on ground and runs on bottom of engine. it is not a leak at oil filter. i do not find any hose leaks.oil leak below pulleys at front of engine. can not locate source. it seems to collect in a engine cavity and drips on ground and runs on bottom of engine. it is not a leak at oil filter. i do not find any hose leaks.

Rule out leak from water pump. What engine is it - 3.0 3.8. Could be intake manifold gasket. Have the cooling system pressurized, about 12 lbs. and look for leak, bubbles.
check oil for coolant in oil also. Possible head gasket leak.
have a pressure test done so that you can see where it is leaking from.. If it is in the side of the block it may be a rusted welsh plug. Check inside the car for a leaking heater core and hoses . Check the drain hole under the water pump as it may be leaking from that hole while the pump is running ( water pump seal)
With a gas leak it is best that an expert technician look at the problem and make a safe and reliable repair. NEVER DRIVE A CAR WITH A FUEL LEAK, PLEASE!!
Those cars have big problems with the intake/intake gaskets leaking, and water pumps. When you find the leak, repair and flush with coolant other than dexcool as this is the source of most of the cooling issues on GM cars.
It could be the oil pressure sensor for the oil light or guage.I have seen this before after age and heat plus vibration could cause it to crack and leak a lot of oil like you describe.Get it fixed asap.It should be easy to unscrew with a wrench or large socket .Buy the new sensor first though so you can replace it once you get the old one out.It leaks alot because of oil pressure from the oilpump pressurizes the rest of the engine bearings. It could break altogether and pump all your oil out and ruin your engine.
It could be the Oil pressure sensor is bad and leaking oil, There know to go bad and will leak worst when driving as the oil pressure goes up.
Good luck and hope this helps.
