I have 96 Chevy Tahoe 4 x 4 with transmission issues also. My transmission which is a automatic would shift like it suppose to from first to second gear and it would not want to shift fm second to third. sometimes I could manually shift and sometimes not mostly not. when it would shift to third, fourth would shift like it suppose to with no problem. wel now it wont shift to 2nd unless you floor it then let off the gas it will shift but thats it. A friend said it was my solenoid shifter. where are the located and is that something an average mechanic do?

The solenoid are under the transmission oil pan, the home mechanic can repair this issue, just make sure you replace all parts on the solenoid including the o-ring

SOURCE: Code Reader reads Shifter Solenoid Stuck or Off

The Shift solenoids are located in the transmission oil pan. I would recommend replacing both shift solenoids while you're in there. Also replace the filter and pan gasket. The shift solenoids are located towards the rear of the valvebody and will be identical to each other. They are held in place by a retaining clip which is easily removed with a small screwdriver or similar tool. Care must be taken as parts may fly out of the bore when the solenoids are removed. Hope this helps.

1995 z28 Chevy camero will not shift correctly after first gear after the transmission filter and gaskets had been replaced, and new transmission fluid.??

When you say after first gear do you mean it shifts
from first to second and then does not shift after that. If that is what you are saying the problem is most likly the 3/4 clutch. The transmission is a 4L60E 4 speed automatic.
The 3/4 clutch is a week point in this transmission.

I am unable to get reverse in my Chevrolet Tahoe 96. Serviced transmission 9 months ago and all has been fine. Seems to be shifting a little different when going forward. Please help.

the reverse sun gear shell is a very common problem with the chevy 4l60 transmissions. the trans will need to be taken out of the truck and repaired.
