A few months ago, my gear shift started to feel 'sticky' and hard to move. I checked the transmission fluid which was fine - it seemed to happen more when the car was cold. Then it stopped happening for a couple of months. It started happening again a few days ago, and today it got stuck in park and wouldn't move at all. The button won't depress all the way right now. Any ideas what is wrong?
SOURCE: I had the oil changed and the manual transmission
I don't believe the transmission fluid being changed would have anything to do with the engine being dead. You could have a tranny with no fluid in it and the engine would still run. Wondering if your engine oil got changed correctly. I would pull out the dipstick for the engine oil and see how much is in there. If this is an error from an oil change place that has caused your engine to die because of their negligence, then you may have a legal issue on your hands. Good Luck.
SOURCE: 2002 kia rio rxv check engine light came on again..
On my wife's car the mechanic said it was gas cap. (NOT!!) I cleared with an OBD reader and the code suggested a leak in the evatorator system. I found a steel tube that was routed over the weld flange of the gas tank. It went from the front of the car, down the drivers side, over the weld joing of the gas tank and into a charcoal evaporator filter on the passengers side near the rear wheel. The tube crossing over the gas tank crumbled when I touched it. I replaced it with a short piece of reinforced neoprene hose (to cross over the gas tank) and a couple of hose clamps. Cost of parts was about $5.00. Havn't seen Check Engine since. Good luck

It is the prnd indicator switch on the shift shaft of the transmission,or a shift solenoid,or the valves are sticking in the valve body, try some lube guard, added to the transmission,it is great for stuck valves.
