Where is the amplifier located for a Mark VIII 1993?

    I have a 1994 Mark vII and my stereo doesn't work, I hear very little at max volume

I thought my problem was the amp as well, it's the RADIO itself. I replaced mine with a very nice fitting TEAC and it works GREAT! The radio under examination was just rotten inside...quite a mess. I've put 2 original Ford radios in this car and the both gave up the ship. I DO enjoy being original...but had to bite the bullet on this one.

The factory amplifier is located underneath of the rear deck, accessible via the trunk. Amp is right most device.

My mark viii will not shut off until i pull the fuse
I believe I would try a New Ignition switch first. They are not very expensive; you may need a Special screwdriver for the Antitheft screws. All you need to do is undo the Steering column cover and the part is underneath.

Fuel Filter Location
The fuel filter for a mark VIII (at least in my 1993), is behind the wheelwall on the front passenger side of the car. You will need to take the wheel off and also take off the black covering by pulling out the plastic mounts and metal screws. as soon as those are removed, you will not miss the filter mounted to the inside left of the wheelwell

Do you have the JBL Premium (will say on the speaker covers) or regular?
Most likely the amp. There is a fuse on some models (cant remember which), replace that first and see what happens.

buy a set of factory manuals used. There is not just one picture.
the fuse box in the driving area is in the owners manual. The engine compartment diagram is in a book called Mark VIII Electrical Vacuum and Troubleshooting Manual.
