EPC warning light!

Hi, EPC light comes on in my Audi A4 2003, I lose power (does not go over 3-4000 rpm) and the acceleration pedal is completely cut off until the revs go down and the car slows. Also, when the car is first turned on or brought to a halt it does not idle well, the engine shakes if you like, and the rpm "arrow" is unstable (it moves just up or below the 1000 mark) It has been doing this for a good 3 months and stressing me greatly. What could be the cause? Most mechanics have given me no certain causes therefore I am left in a dilemma. Please help if you can! Many Thanks Emir

SOURCE: Audi 80 oil pressure light

i think from memory that the oil pressure switch is at the back of the cylinder head, if its not there it will be located just above the oil filter, these switches are very cheep to buy and can be bought from any good motor factors. You are right to suspect the switch, its the first thing to eliminate before bogging your self down with more complicated and expensive problems.

Likely a faulty diverter valve. If you have some decent mileage on the car the DV may be failing. It's a flimsy design with a plastic internal diaphragm. They're not terribly expensive (you can buy them at www.ecstuning.com or www.purems.com).

That being said, I'd still look around the turbo and intake systems for a loose, cracked, or disconnected vacuum hose - a vacuum leak should trip a check light but it may not always do so. Look for that, and if nothing is apparent, then I'd look at changing the DV.

The most common causes of an EPC light showing up on your Audi or VW are a faulty throttle body, a faulty ABS sensor, a cracked ABS ring, or a faulty brake pedal switch. Here are a few of the issues that could trigger the EPC light.

I have an audi a4 2001 model and the EPC LIGHT CAME ON . THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE . IS THIS DANGEROUS

Computers are taking over everything on your vehicle. Traditionally, components like the steering, the parking brake, and the gas pedal used to require mechanical linkages. Nowadays, computers and electric motors can take care of all of these functions and more.
Electronic Power Control (EPC) is a computerized ignition and engine management system. It is used by other systems on the car such as stability and cruise control. Any faults with the EPC will likely disable other functions on your vehicle so it is important to keep the system maintained and functional. A warning light on the dash will let you know when an issue has been detected in the EPC system.

What the EPC light means

Since the EPC is used on multiple other systems on the vehicle, it is likely that other warning lights will be illuminated on the dash as well. Typically, the stability control and cruise control will be disabled and their respective lights will be illuminated as well. The check engine light may also come on to show that the engine itself isn't operating at normal efficiency. To try and protect the engine, the computer can limit the vehicle's throttle and the car may feel sluggish as a result.
You will need to get the car scanned for trouble codes that can be used to identify the problem. Once repairs have been done and the codes cleared, everything should return to normal.

Is it safe to drive with the EPC light on?

Like the check engine light, the severity of the problem can vary greatly. If this light comes on, you should have the car checked out as soon as possible to prevent any significant damage from occurring. If your vehicle is limiting your throttle to protect the engine, you should only use the vehicle to take it to get repaired.
Common issues with your car's EPC are malfunctioning sensors which just need to be replaced. However, the issue can be more serious so don't hesitate and have your vehicle checked out as soon as possible.

I have a audi a3 2005 model the epc light comes on and power loss please help

Unless you have a scan tool or have a friend that has one. You will need to send it in for diagnostics. A code reader may provide some information but will not show live data. The EPC warning light, also known as the Electronic Power Control warning light. The PCM has identified a fault with your Volkswagen's throttle system. The throttle pedal, throttle body, traction control, cruise control or wiring could be to blame.

I have audi 2001 1.8 non turbo a3 EPC light goes on and off

That sounds like a bad connection. Check all connections for the EPC system from the accelerator pedal TPS to the throttle body itself. If that fails you could have a wire in the loom that is broken and makes inertmitent contacts.

WHAT DOES EPC STAND FOR ?

"Engineering, Procurement, and Construction" (EPC) is a particular form of contracting arrangement used in some industries where the EPC Contractor is made responsible for all the activities from design, procurement, construction, to commissioning and handover of the project to the End-User or Owner.

In case of cars:
The EPC indicator is a standard in Volkswagen and Audi models. These vehicles have drive-by-wire systems that are computer-controlled. When a fault exists with the throttle pedal, throttle body, traction control and cruise control, the EPC warning light illuminates. In many instances, the vehicle's throttle may be limited when this light is illuminated in order to protect the engine. Often, there is just enough power enough to get the vehicle to a service facility for repairs.
