The fuel filter is located on the driver side in the middle of the truck the filter is bolted to the frame. There is 3 lines 2 inlet and 1 exit. When you disconnect the fuel lines you can use a pencil to plug the holes for each lines. . The fuel filter is wedge and maybe hard to remove. make sure you do not cross the fuel lines when you install the new filter.

Hello my 1997 s10 isn't getting gas I can hear the fuel pump run.and I put gas in the carb and it will run until the gas runs out then it quits.Any ideas

The fuel filter could be plugged. Check to see if you are getting fuel to the engine compartment by using the fuel pressure valve. It looks like an oversized tire stem, and will be located near the fuel delivery system in the fuel line.

1997 S10 pickup starts then shuts off in 2-4 seconds

when its in that not running stage or it dies you need to try and shoot a little starting fluid or gasoline into the throttle body or air cleaner and try and start it again .. If it starts then we know you have a fuel pump going out .. and its in the gas tank .. thanks Jerry and holler if you need more..
