W reg renault clio alize 1.4 starting problems

Problems getting my clio to start every time sometimes it starts but more often now its not starting straight away sometimes i put the key in to the ignition and turn it nothing much happens the dash lights come on but nothing but a click sound but if i hold the key forward in the ignition for about 30 seconds or longer the car will eventually start .or if i keep turning the key on and off in the ignition you hear a click everytime you turn the ignition on it sounds like the starter is having trouble turning like its seizing but then eventually turns . ive had the tdc sensor changed last year and cleaned the crank motion sensor but will change that aswell .

SOURCE: 1996 Toy Tocoka ignition/starter

that is a starter solenoid problem.

starter has its own solenoid. the big round thing besides the real motor.

it has contacts inside which could be worn out .

that is why sometimes it make contact and sometimes not.

SOURCE: Engine will not crank intermitantly

Crank sensor can translate heat. Not allowing restart after the turbo heat radiates in the area. Try a wad of aluminum foil in front of the crank sensor(on the block behind the turbo) . It protects it from heat and its a cheep test. If this works you can make a better sheild or leave the foil.

2000 Renault clio 1.4 Alize. The engine is cranking but it will not fire up. Battery Ok.

I would start by checking all of the fuses. Make sure your engine is getting fuel. Does your fuel pump kick on? If so, it could be many other things. The best way is to get your codes read, if your check engine light is on. This will give you an idea of where to start.

2000 reg clio 1.2 and SOMETIMES it will not start.

Hi, if when you turn the key to start the car the engine dont turn over as if its trying to start then this indicates that you have a problem with your starter motor it is the selanoid on the starter starting to fail

Sometimes it will turn the engine over starting the car and other times it will do nothing and you might here a slight clocking noise coming from the starter motor.

If your battery is ok and holds the charge ie the lights are bright without the car running then this indicates that your battery is ok and that the starter needs replacing. Sometimes you can get away with giving the starter motor a few taps with a hammer this sometimes clears any muck inside the starter selonoid getting it working for a bit longer but eventually it wont work at all so its best ot get this done sooner rather that later.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
