Alarm system not working

Car was working fine yesterday. Neighbor notified us this morning that the alarm was going off. Tried the keychain (touching "unlock" is supposed to do the trick). Didn't work. Removing the battery was the only way to shut the alarm off. Purchased and installed new battery. Now the car sputters and chokes and stinks like something is burning. Alarm also goes off again.

What is going on???

A friend of ours did some research and discovered it was the ECU (fuse?) that needed to be reset. We removed the ECU (which controls the cruise control, and "learns" the driving patterns of the driver and adjusts the fuel economy) and the car is running fine. To reset the ECU you need to remove the negative cable from the battery, turn the car to "A/C On" (don't crank the engine) for 10 seconds, then shut it off. Replace the negative battery cable. This should reset the ECU. The car does run much better with the new battery. The previous battery was the original and was approximately 6 1/2 years old so it needed to replaced anyway.

Car unlocked but it sets the alarm ... car locked alarm goes for no obvious reason s type 4 liter.

Are you using the the keychain to lock unlock the vehicle? A low battery in the keychain will send wacky codes to your vehicle alarm system and will not set properly. Try using the key in the door to lock unlock vehicle. IF the alrm does not go off when using the key in the door, then you probably have to change the battery in the key chain. Best guess without being there to look at vheicle.

Last night my Alarm on my '06 Tacoma went off twice (a little after midnight and again around 1:30am)...and again at 7:20 this morning. Pretty windy last night, but I've never noticed my stock alarm be...

I'm not sure that is possible without having your key in your ignition. When reprogramming keys or transmitters they would all have to be reprogrammed to work with your vehicle at the same time so as long as your current keys and transmitters work I'm pretty sure that this incident is pure fluke!

Toyota Camry 1994 No ignition think it may be alarm

disconnect the alarm system from under the dash.battery to starter direct will turn the engine over fine but ignition system still runs through your alarm system. It's also a theft prevent system so your car will not be stolen. The alarm went bad preventing your car from starting. That means putting the ignition wiring back to factory.

Need new keychain alarm button

Is this a factory installed alarm system? If so, unlocking the driver door with the key will allow the car to start. If not then you will have to remove the aftermarket alarm system to start the car.
If you have a factory alarm system you can get a new FOB (key chain alarm button) from a ford dealer, but it must be programmed using a scanner , before it will work in your vehicle.

Car wont start.

I work at a car lot and have experienced alot of numerous electrical problems with this group of Chrysler's.(Intepid, 300m, LHS, Concorde) I hate to say but usually a BCM has fixed my problems. Regarding the alarm i would look into the switch on the back side of the lock cylinder it was a very common problem in the mid 90's era Chryslers, but all in all sounds almost like a BCM. (Body Contol Module) New they are salty but call the dealer and give them the last eight of the vin and tell them you need the ID number for the bcm they should give it to you then browse your local junk yards. GOOD LUCK!
