Where is the fuel pump kill switch located in a 1998 Buick le sabre custom or the reset procedure

When you turn the key on the fuel pump should pump for about five to ten seconds. Do this a few times and it should start. Even with a full tank the pump will do this to pressurize the system. If the pump keeps running it's not picking up fuel. Have a friend listen at the gas cap with the cap removed for the pump to cycle. If it doesn't work there is a fitting on the fuel rail that looks like a valve on a tire. Take the cap off of it and use a small screwdriver to push the center in and see if there is pressure in the fuel rail. Have the key on and wear safety glasses. You should get a squirt of fuel out of it. If you have no pressure there the pump could be bad or the filter plugged. If there is pressure you have other problems. There is no shut off switch. Only fuses and a fuel pump relay. https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-samsung&source=android-browser&ei=_skGWP71NoOFmwGwvp-YCw&q=1998+buick+lesabre+fuel+pump+switch+location&oq=+1998+Buick+le+sabre+fuel+pump+switch+location&gs_l=mobile-gws-serp.1.0.30i10k1.20246.66235.0.71699.52.41.2.0.0.0.354.6560.4j26j8j2.40.0....0...1.1.64.mobile-gws-serp..17.35.5853...0i10k1j0i7i10i30k1j0i13k1j33i21k1j33i160k1.pAvwOOuWlKU#imgrc=99du9RTFFGCYhM%3A&scso=uid_WAbKSQAIdFcKJtQCGQCAqw_8:0

Buick Le Sabre No Start?

I have recently worked on a 1995 Buick Le Sabre that wouldn't start. First checked the fuel pump fuse and relay, they were both good. Then proceeded to change the faulty fuel pump. Proceeded to crank the car up and NO START....
Ended up finding that these buicks have problems with there wiring. So i found the power and ground wire to the fuel pump. Grounded it to the frame, and ran a hot wire up to the dash to a on/off switch that i then ran through the firewall and into a 20 amp fuse link. From there to a power source. Now to start the car, you have to turn the fuel pump on and off when you shut the car off.
But that beats chasing the entire wiring harness down to find a mysterious short.

How do I replace the fuel pump on a 1997 Buick La Sabre

You have to pull the fuel tank to replace it.It should run continuously if the engine is running , if the key is just on it will only run for two seconds to prime fuel system .

So my fuel pump has been making a high pitched noise for a while. Then one day, without warning, I tried to start the car but it wouldn't. It cranked but would not start. I turned the car on (not start)...

I looked at info for 3.1L vinM Buick regal. fuel pressure key on engine off, 40.5--47 psi. Can you check the vin? The fuel pressure specs I have for 3.8L engine are even higher than the 3.1L.
You will get a fuel pump prime, key on engine off. You need to make sure fuel pump runs with engine cranking.
My hearing is no good, I can't hear fuel pump with engine cranking.
Sometimes If fuel pump brushes are bad, the fuel pump may run intermittently. Sometimes you can bang on bottom of gas tank when trying to start and the fuel pump will take off running.

1998 buick la sabre - won't start, sounds like it isn't getting fuel, no prior problems or warnings. If fuel filter would it just stop just like that?

The fuel filter could be gummed up, is it freezing out? I have seen them ice when it is cold from the water condensating in the tank, it freezes when it hits the filter. I would check the fuel pump too, if you turn the key on, listen for the pump to run, If you don't hear it, might be the problem. You could try squirting some fuel into one of the cylinders and see if it fires, Then you will know it is fuel related, and not spark. Hope this helps.

Cranks but don't start

The best way to check if it is the fuel pump is to buy some starting spray at AutoZone, etc... and take off your air cleaner line. Spray the starting spray A LIBERAL AMOUNT into the Throttle Body and try to start the car. If it starts and runs for a second then dies, it is most definately your fuel pump. This is an easy check to do yourself and will sameyou diagnostic time and $$$. Try it and post back what you find!

Good Luck!
