A loose negative connection would not cause a groan.

Open the door pull the rubber boot back that houses the wiring loom you will find that there are a number of wires broken if doable solder them back to gether and insulation tap them up, you should find this solves your problem.
your noise should and your windows should work if there are to many wires brocken you can get a new loom from the dealer

good luck

this is a very common problem i do 2 ore 3 of these a day

Groaning noise

Check the wheel bearings, or have them checked, immediately. This is the most likely cause of the groaning sound you are hearing, and if left uncorrected, it can cause serious problems, possibly leading to further mechanical damage to the car, or even an accident.

Groaning noise when turning wheel in either direction. almost sounds like a cow mooing.

Have the tie rod ends checked for no lubrication, they are the common source of this type of noise. I think a tire shop can listen to the noise give you an answer as to what it may cost to fix at little or no charge.

Hi

trhe ticking noise is the relays, however the most likely cause of this fault is the drivers door wiring, very common Peuegot fault with opening and closing the door the wires within the black plastic sleave start to wear and then contact each other, do you electric windows work? central locking? had any issues with these at all? is there anything electrical that sometimes works and sometimes does not?

Peugeot 306 central locking fault, it goes up and down 7 times every 2-3mins. when you unlock with pid it locks down again straight away. please help?

These have a problem with the wires in the hinge area on the drivers door, click the latch so the door thinks it is shut, do what you do to get the problem and if you still get it then wiggle the rubber tube carrying the wires in the hinge area. If the problem is gone with the door open or you change it by wiggling then the wores have cracked and need fixing, peugeot used to sell a harness part.
