You should take the stripped bolts with you to purchase the new bolts at the auto store at the same time you buy the heli-coil inserts. While I could give you a possible size, (some are shorter, some longer in some engines) you have the exact part right there with you. Go ahead and take a good head bolt with you too.

The inserts are of brittle steel and must be installed carefully, but, this is done frequently for the same reason you need them without any problem.

There is also the option of tapping the damaged threads up to the next size, and using a different size head bolt, but you have to decide which is best based on your experience level and the availability of parts.

Rocker arms stripping breaking 2003 pontiac grand am v6

This would not be a head issue. If bolts are stripping and they are using heli coils, it is the block that has the issue unless these are manifold bolts for the exhaust.

My 99 Sunfire front drivers side brake caliper mounting bolt wont screw in the mount itself, mount stripped

Step 1:

One of two ways to fix this is to change the caliper bracket. This is the best way and probably the cheapest way as you can find plenty of these cars in wrecking yards.

Step 2:

The other way requires inserting a Heli Coil. You buy the Heli Coil kit for the original bolt and drill and tap the hole to a larger size and install the Heli Coil insert to restore the hole to original size.

Need head bolt size on 280ZX , need heli coil size

Heil coil sizes are not exact if you understand what they are made to do . If it fits it will work to a point . But your talking head bolts that need to be torqued twice and in sequence This Is a datsun vary cool car i would try to retape the block first . But you would need to pull the head off to do this . Idon't know how it got striped but your best bet is to fix the threads in the block even if you have to drill and oversize it and up size the bolt . Not a lot of easy ways out of this if i understand you correctly

Stripped threads in engine block for exhaust manifold

You need a heli-coil kit. Your local parts store should be able to help you find the proper size if you take the bolt with you. Follow the directions carefully and buy a new bolt for the manifold.

I have striped head bolts on1998bmw 520i.is there a helly coil solution?

yes there are many different types of coils that you can replace it with, if it were me i would google the thread size to find the same type. if you can't find the same thread then you can replace it with a standard coil

I have a 1999 Durango that had an exhaust leak on cylinder 8. the manifold bolts were so badly corroded, I had to cut the heads off and unscrew the studs... except for #8 cylinder... the bolts were both...

It can be a daunting task. You'll need to center punch them as deeply as possible. Use left handed cobalt bits starting with the smallest possible bit & work your way up to about 3/4 the size of the bolt & try an easy out. Don't break the easy out!! If the easy out fails, continue drilling to the proper size for a heli-coil & install one. Use anti-sieze on the new bolts. If this fails, hate to say it,remove the head & try a drill press.

My 1991 Infinity M30 starter won't tighten to the block.

The best way to deal with it is to go buy a heli-coil kit. Welding the starter to the block is a bad idea.
