The sliding door lock lever (the one with red color that moves up and down when locking action is initiated from keyless entry) seems to be broken inside and it is loose. Once the car is locked and unlocked, the sliding door will not unlock and can't be opened from outside. I can however lift the lock lever up into position manually (with difficulty since it is loose) to be able to open the door from inside or outside. I need to get inside the trim door panel with handle and look to see what is loose or broken. There's one screw on the top of the trim that I took off, but do not know how the whole trim panel comes off. Has anyone repaired or replaced this lock lever? Please help.

Sounds like something isn't right.Try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see if that helps. Some times the ecu gets haywired and disconnecting the battery might reset it.And if it is the original battery you might want to get it tested.

Have 2005 Sienna and its Driver side door was not openning. Cheap dealer fixed it himself in front of me. After opening the doors plastic assembly while sitting inside with a screw driver. Then he bent the clip towards left where the metal wire is connected. If you guys want to see what he did i would record a video and upload for you guys. Let me know at [email protected]

To start, the noun "''rear latch switch'' is incorrect. It's actually called "Slide Door Lock". It's located on page BO-20 of the Toyota Repair Manual for the 2001 Sienna. There are two door locks on one sliding door. One in the front and one in the rear. Obviously, you want the one in the rear. The location for the "Slide Door Lock" (which also contains an electric switch) is in the rear of the sliding door located mid way up door. You can see (sliding door opened from the back) it without dissembling the door. And, the lock is made up of plastic (dirty white in color).
