Have the ABS control unit scanned for trouble codes in its memory.

I have seen this problem before. I have seen 2 repairs for the incidents I have seen.

1- you may have a bad wheel speed sensor. If one sensor is sending an erratic signal to the control unit, the control unit will think that the wheel associated with that sensor is going a different speed than the others and will activate the ABS system.

2- I have seen the control unit, which is part of the actuator, fail on these vehicles. You will usually ahve a trouble code and no problems with the sensors or wiring. Once you move the vehicle after erasing the code, the code will return. This is a very expensive part ($1200+).

I would recommend taking your vehicle to a trusted technician. If you don't have a normal tech who does your work, I would recommend your local dealer.

Hope this is helpful!!

My traction control come on my 2003 yukon xl when driving what causes that to happen.

when ur driving and u take off fast from a stop sign or light or turn and one or more of the tires slip from wet road ,sand on road or ice on road anything that causes a tire to slip will set off the traction control ---if it is on steady or coming on and off while on a dry road check the abs sensor wiring first if looks good will need to have truck scanned will probably have a pending or a fault code in computer most auto stores will scan a vehicle for free check ur local area the code will assist in locating the problem so a repair can be made

Abs light is on . brakes work just fine and the fluid is full

Hello, lets test that BMW M5 ABS braking system, OK. First, drive down a street with no traffic. Speed up to 30 to 40 MPH. Then slam on your brakes hard, if the brake petal is pulsating and there a noise like clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk noise. Your BMW ABS is working. If not, then the BMW ABS isn't working.

ABS system and what it does to your BMW. All it amount to is it doesn't lock up the braking system. It just applied the brake and release in micro seconds. This keep the vehicle from sliding side ways on wet roads, snowy roads, icy roads or even on dry roads. In other words, it keeps the front of the BMW in a straight line.

If your BMW ABS isn't do this, you'll need to have the ABS braking system serviced. GB...stewbison

When braking right before i come to a complete stop the ABS kicks in every time even when the roads are dry

it sounds like you have a wheel speed sensor dropping out at slow speeds. the abs computer sees a wheel go to zero mph and thinks it locked up so activates the abs will not set a code because computer thinks it is doing what it is designed to do. need to have someone drive it and monitor the wheel speed sensors while stopping and see which one goes to zero. a scan tool will be required for this that can read abs data.

check the rotors for scoring, worn rotors will "feel"like the abs is coming on due to the vibration caused.and will account for the extended stopping distance.
