Hey, toyotas r sensitive to air quality. Remove the factory air filter
for an aftermarket one. Fram or Pureolator will do. In my mind,
factory air filter 4 the camry r 2 restrictive

Well there are many reasons mpg's go down. low or inaccurate air pressure in the tires. sparks plugs and/or wires going bad, dirty fuel filter bad gas and others

REPLACE SPARK WIRES THAT COULD BE MISFIRE PROBLEM, ANY TIME OLD SPARK PLUG WIRES IS REMOVED THE WIRES WILL BREAK INSIDE PLUG BOOT CAUSING SPARK PLUG NOT TO FIRE.REPLACE SPARK PLUG WIRES.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS, CHANGE AIR FILTER,CHECK ALL VACUUM HOSES ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD LOOKING FOR INTAKE VACUUM LEAKS.
could be your spark plugs... your air filter... even your fuel injectors could do that. clean the fuel system with a complete fuel system cleaner from autozone or whatever and check/ change your spark plugs. also check your air filter for clogs or too much dirt
It could be 2 things. The grade of gas you're using and / or your style of driving. Bump up to the next level of gas and don't put your foot into it as much. Get off the gas earlier when coming to a stop. I have a full size SUV and I average 24 MPG city.
I would try a regular tune-up, plugs, wires. If you did, did you change your fuel filter?, cuz that would help keep your injectors clean and flowing normal.
24 mpg on the highway is actually pretty good for that truck. at 48000 miles and being 3 years old its time for plugs, air filter, and fuel filter if available. thats cheap maintenance for now. but if very self conscious, run some fuel injector cleaner first, then change the plugs, because any octane booster or fuel injector cleaner can run the risk of fouling out a plug, by creating a hotter spark then what, normal gas does. the burn is hotter.
CHANGE YOUR AIR FILTER!!!! INSTALL A PUEROLATOR OR FRAM AIR FILTER FOR THE MODEL YEAR OF YOUR CAR. I DID THAT FOR MY 2007 CAMRY AND I PROBABLY PICKED UP 3-4 MPGS. THE TOYOTA FILTER MIGHT BE TOO RESTRICTIVE!!!
