Jag xjr(supercharged) left for 2 wks, started ok runs fine but as it gets hot it wont rev very high,it pops and stutters like a missfire, holds back and has lack of power. If driven very gently its ok but put your foot down and it dies off and hardly goes.It is also drinking fuel worse more than it normally does.Coils check out ok,plugs are new.the only fault code is p1508(air something).

Ithink p1508 is a dealer fault code and relates to a air leak after the supercharger ie a intercooler/hoses problem you need someone with jag knowledge locally to help you

SOURCE: missfire

Locate you computer (right front kick panel) and tap on it with a pen while the car idles... Also flex it back and forth with your hands to see if the car runs rough or quits... You may need a new one.

SOURCE: ford focus 1.8tddi lack of power

make sure the car is not running on the battery only and the alternator is good and all of the vaccum lines are good and they are on and ask yourself when was the last time you had a tuneup spark plugs and wires if needed and drivebelt and a fuel filter and a air filter.

SOURCE: 01' Jaguar XJR Starter location?

If you get just a click you should first check battery charge and all battery connections. The click is probably the solenoid kicking in but without enough battery to turn over the engine.

Please can anyone tell me where to find the pass lock on a 2001 xjr v8 supercharged jag. It will crank. After having work done on it but will not stay cranked. Had new battery installed, also.

Doesn't have pass lock anti-theft system .What's missing spark or fuel ? May have some other form of anti - theft system . Your best bet take it to a specialty shop that does Jags

I have a 2003 Jaguar XJR V8 Supercharge, and the ASC trac not available and Failsafe engine mode sign came on. The car engine shut down and I was able to restart the car, it happened when the car was...

As most likely know the engine in your Jag is controlled by a computer, when it senses a serious fault in any of the systems it monitors it can trigger a shut down with a restart, the shut down and needed restart is the same as rebooting a computer for a problem that has occurred in the system. What must be done now is to have the local dealer or a very well equipped shop run a scan of the computers memory, there will be fault codes stored for they event and warning lights. So get it tested.

My jag xj sport v8 3.2 will not start

give the battery a full charge....un clip the air filter housing and leave it resting in place, put your foot to the floor on the gas pedal and keep cranking til it starts up,dont release the ignition key til it fires up,it will pop and bang and then when it fires up will smoke for a little bit (couple of mins) and then it will be fine.
If that doesnt work you will have to remove all 8 plugs, clean them, pour about 2 teaspoons in each cylinder before replacing plugs then do the same as above.
What happens with these engines is the cylinders get a bit too much fuel in them and it washes the oil away down the bores thus losing comression so it wont start.Instead of starting it up and switching it off briefly, let it run a bit and then give it a little rev before switching off...hope this helps
